Yu Ishigami is the tritagonist of the manga/anime series Kaguya-sama: Love is War. He is best friends with the main male character Miyuki Shirogane, and is a pessimistic, gloomy yet kind and selfless guy. He has a bad reputation for being violent due to a past accident.
He is voiced by Ryota Suzuki in the Japanese version and Austin Tindle in the English version.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- He saved his former classmate Kyoko from a toxic relationship with her cruel and manipulative boyfriend Ogino, who mistreated her, cheated on her, and proposed to send pornographic photos of her, by fighting him. This made him earn his bad reputation.
- He also became a scapegoat by not revealing the truth about Ogino, to avoid the latter to get revenge by sharing private pictures of Kyoko, and he accepted to be hated by Kyoko so that she would not discover the truth about Ogino and suffer from it.
- Overall, he's extremely selfless, kind and respectful towards the ones around him, and (similar to another character on this wiki, Hachiman Hikigaya) he often saves others' reputation by becoming a scapegoat himself.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- While he's generally very kind, he can be harshly sarcastic towards Chika and, especially, Miko - granted, the two are annoying in different ways, and he has every right to be annoyed, but he sometimes teases them even when they didn't do unpleasant things, or sometimes go off on a tangent about them for no reason, like making fun of Fujiwara’s chest and how it’ll hamper any attempts at archery. Though there is a possibility he'll subvert this as the story will go on.
- He also tends to be very envious and jealous of other guys getting a girlfriend when he doesn't, to the point of outrage when Tsubasa gets a girlfriend.
