Yosuke Hanamura is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Teddie) and one of the party members of the Persona 4 sub-series within the Persona series.

He is a student at Yasogami High School and works at his father's branch of the Junes department store in Inaba. He and his best friend, Yu Narukami later form a group known as the Investigation Team in order to find the mysterious Inaba killer and bring him to justice.

He is voiced by Showtaro Morikubo in Japanese, who also voiced Shikamaru Nara, and by Yuri Lowenthal in English, who also formerly voiced Makoto Yuki from the same franchise, and voiced Simon and Radar.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

He is one of the founding members of the Investigation Team, helping in saving others like Yukiko, Kanji, Rise and Naoto from dying from the shadows that lurk inside the TV World, something that actually happened to Yosuke's crush Saki.
In manga adaptation, it is he who helps Naoki, Saki's brother, in finding a closure from his sister's tragic death.
He aided in defeating Mitsuo Kubo, a selfish and arrogant bully that killed the teacher Mr. Morooka for fame and attention.
He helped save Nanako, the protagonist's cousin, from Taro Namatame.
He helped figure out that Tohru Adachi is the true serial killer, and aided in Adachi's defeat, finally putting the murder case to rest and avenging his crush, whom Adachi tried to rape and later indirectly killed.
- In Golden, he comforts Yu who attempted to reason with Adachi alone to no avail, understanding why he did it despite understandably dismayed by the latter's recklessness.
He aided in defeating Izanami, who orchestrated the game's events, and is responsible for giving Adachi the powers to cause the murders.
He helped save Marie in Persona 4 Golden and helped in defeating Kusumi-no-Okami, the corrupted true form of Marie.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

He has moments where he acts mischievous and jerkish, such as making fun of Kanji or acting like a pervert towards the girls.
Because of his personality, he can quite easily get in fights with the other members of the Investigation Team, with it mostly being Chie.

Trivia[]

Originally, Yosuke was one of two potential options for the culprit behind the murders instead of Tohru Adachi (the other being Yukiko Amagi). Had this been the case, Yosuke wouldn't qualify as Near Pure Good.
