Because of Woody's comfort, Buzz became more confident in himself of being a toy.
- When Buzz is taken, he begs Sid's toys to help him rescue Buzz and referring to Buzz as the only friend he truly has.
- When Buzz was taken, he comes up with a plan that benefits them all by briefly revealing to Sid that toys are sentient, preventing Sid from harming any more toys by scaring him.
- Though Woody's plan did terrify Sid, it was only done to save Buzz and to prevent Sid from killing any more toys. In fact, it's implied that Woody's actions even helped Sid redeem himself and become a better person, as shown by his appearance in Toy Story 3 as a garbage man.
- When Buzz is trapped on a rocket about to be blown up by Sid, Woody risks himself and saves Buzz along with the other mangled toys. Then when Buzz is freed, Woody shakes his hand and thanks Sid's toys for all their help.

- Stays by Bo's side in helping lost toys find owners.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite learning from his mistakes, he was still cranky, snarky and had somewhat of a jerkish attitude in the first two movies (though the first movie was where he came dangerously close to becoming a full-fledged villain), like when he tried to trap Buzz behind a drawer and ended up defenestrating him, or when he told Buzz that he wasted his time with his rescue mission. Although he sheds his jerkiness significantly, he slightly retains it into the fourth film, where he calls Bo Peep disloyal, which he regrets instantly after saying it. He even found out that Bonnie hasn't had much interest with Woody ever since Andy donated his toys to her when he left for college.
- Even after he sheds his worst traits from the first two movies, he's still just a little too self-caring to the point of being unsympathetic towards those with a different, but equally relevant point of view. Most notably, he wrongfully called his friends "selfish" for wanting to stay at Sunnyside Daycare so they can get played with again despite one, this being kind of hypocritical due to his own selfishness shown in the second movie, and two, their understandable motives seeing as how Andy had barely paid them any attention and left them to point of gathering dust for years, giving them good reason to believe their absence wouldn't be noticed, let alone missed.
- He even spitefully refuses to shake Buzz's hand when he tried to end things on an amiable note before they parted ways, though he does reunite with Buzz in rescuing his friends from Lotso.
