Waylon Park is the overarching protagonist of Outlast and the main protagonist of its DLC, Outlast: Whistleblower. He is a previous employee that worked at Murkoff for an unknown amount of time, before experiencing the heinous experiments that Murkoff performs on their patients that drives Waylon to send emails to journalists, saying Murkoff needs to be exposed. One of these journalists was Miles Upshur himself, kicking off the events of the first game.

He was voiced by Shawn Baichoo.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

  • After seeing the experiments that Murkoff's patients were forced to go through, he decided to email journalists so that they could expose Murkoff's immoral actions, despite knowing the risks he was taking.
  • After being freed from captivity, he decided to record as much evidence as he could in order to expose Murkoff once he had escaped.
  • Despite wanting to commit suicide to escape the hell he was stuck in, Waylon decided against it in order to get back to his family alive.
  • While killing Eddie Gluskin was in self defense, Waylon still prevented him from torturing and killing anymore patients in the asylum by killing him.
  • Once he escaped the asylum, despite Simon Peacock's warnings that if he uploaded the evidence of Murkoff's activity, he would more or less doom himself and his family, Waylon still uploaded the evidence regardless, finally exposing Murkoff for their immoral actions.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • He indirectly gets a doctor or patient killed by allowing a patient to beat him to death. While it was accidental, instead of feeling remorse, Waylon was just happy it wasn't him that was killed instead. He also later allows a patient to drown a doctor in a toilet without making an attempt to save him and records it for evidence.
  • He isn't above being lethal with his enemies, leaving a note wishing that someone would kill Blaire, even saying "there's no pain he doesn't deserve" and says in one of his notes that he is trying to resist laughing at Gluskin's brutal death.
