Vendel is a major protagonist in the Tales of Arcadia franchise, serving as a major protagonist in Trollhunters, a posthumous protagonist in 3Below, a supporting protagonist in Wizards, and a posthumous protagonist in the film finale Trollhunters: Rise of the Titans. He is the Elder/leader of Trollmarket and while initially skeptical of the protagonist Jim Lake Jr., he later becomes one of his staunchest allies.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Agreed to remove the Onyx shard from future Jim's chest.
- Formed an alliance with King Arthur to combat Gunmar despite Arthur being genocidal towards magical creatures.
- Stored Gaylen's Core in Trollmarket for centuries with Kanjigar as its protector, preventing the universe from being destroyed. After Kanjigar's death, Vendel becomes its sole protector.
- Uses the Soothscryer to see if Jim is fit enough to be the new Trollhunter.
- Although initially xenophobic and jerkish towards Jim, he accepts him once he defeats Bular and tells Blinky that he taught Jim well.
- Attends to Blinky when Blinky turns into a human from Gatto's potions
- Cleaves two Triumbric Stones to increase the power of Jim's armor and make him strong enough to defeat Gunmar.
- Shows Jim how to cleave other Triumbric stone.
- Slows down AAARRRGGHH!!!'s poison to prolong his life.
- Although he agreed to keep AAARRRGGHH!!!'s infection a secret, he encouraged AAARRRGGHH!!! to tell the rest of Team Trollhunters about his condition since the poison was fatal and incurable
- Stopped Queen Usurna from forcibly taking AAARRRGGHH!!! away from Trollmarket.
- Although he wanted AAARRRGGHH!!! to stay in Trollmarket, he gave him the choice to either stay or go with Usurna to his Krubera home as it might stop the poison.
- Stopped all the trolls from turning against Jim and rallied them all to stop Angor Rot when he attacked Trollmarket.
- Although Strickler was his enemy, he still defended him from vengeful mobs.
- Comforted Team Trollhunters over AAARRRGGHH!!!'s death.
- He didn't imprison Team Trollhunters when they stole his staff to make a deal to revive AAARRRGGHH!!! and instead told them to get it back eventually.
- Tried to convince the Tribunal to stop prosecuting Jim and focus on how to stop Gunmar instead.
- Believes Blinky when no one else will about a changeling spy in Trollmarket and plans to present it to the Tribunal to free Jim.
- Carried an anamnesis stone so when Usurna kills him, it records this and exposes her as a traitor to Team Trollhunters and Trollmarket.
- He does all these actions despite having considerably less screen time than the main heroes and an inability to fight due to his old age.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He acted like a jerk towards Jim and Toby and was skeptical of a human Trollhunter. Although he sheds most of his jerkish tendencies and gets rid of his xenophobia as he now respects Jim and Claire, he still has a little jerkiness left, especially towards Toby.
- Even though he himself has never killed anyone, he is still a proponent of "always finish the fight" or always kill your opponent in a fight, making him lethal. He had no problem with Jim or Draal challenging each other to the death for the amulet and like the rest of Trollmarket, dislikes the fact that Jim spares Draal. In fact, the reason he began to respect Jim in the first place is when he killed Bular.
