Vash the Stampede is the main protagonist of the anime and manga series Trigun. He is a mysterious, wandering gunman also known as The Humanoid Typhoon due to the destruction and chaos which surrounds him.

He wields a huge silver revolver and travels from town to town.

He is initially discovered by Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson, representatives of the Bernardelli Insurance Society investigating claims made due to damages caused by the mysterious Vash the Stampede.

He is voiced by Masaya Onosaka in the Japanese version of the anime and by Johnny Yong Bosch in the English version. The latter also voices Hajime Hinata in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and Giyu Tomioka in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • In the manga, when Tesla - another Plant species (like him and his brother) - was killed through the continuous scans and vivisections that eventually led to her slow and painful death, Vash was horrified and declares his hatred of humanity. When Rem intervenes against his attempted suicide and is accidentally injured as a result, Vash is calmed at the catharsis of hurting a human, but then he becomes horrified by what he's done and saves her.
  • By default, he cannot be a Pure Good hero since he is a Heroic Mercenary, which makes him slightly morally flexible by using firearms.

Trivia[]

  • Vash the Stampede is the only Near Pure Good in Trigun.
