Welcome, everyone, to my third NPG proposal, involving the selfless penguin soldier from Madagascar that recently got cut from being Pure Good.
What's The Work?
The Madagascar franchise is created by by DreamWorks Animation, which focuses on the thrilling adventures of four anthropomorphic animals who once spent their lives in captivity in the Central Park Zoo, but are reckoned to be re-shipped to Africa, leading to a shipwreck at Madagascar. The group embark though a thrilling quest to return to New York City with the help of other animals in the franchise, including a group of penguins (Skipper, Kowalski, Rico and you guessed it; the candidate of this proposal, Private), who serve as the titular main protagonists of two spinoffs from the main trilogy of Madagascar, being the non-canon Nickelodeon TV series, The Penguins of Madagascar, and the film canon, Penguins of Madagascar, focusing on Private and his three fellow Penguins (Skipper, Kowalski and Rico) who team up with the North Wind to defeat a giant Pacific octopus, Dave, who seeks for revenge against the penguins for "stealing his spotlight."
Who Is He?
As you all know, Private is the youngest member of the quadrio of Penguins, and is the adoptive brother of Skipper, Kowalski and Rico, and he serves as a major character of the Madagascar franchise and one of the four titular main protagonists of the film, Penguins of Madagascar.

What Makes Him Close To Pure Good?
In General
- Private is devoid of most of the corrupting qualities his fellow adoptive brothers have, such as being anti-heroic and arrogant, and Private is seem as the most sensible out of them in terms of morality.
- He is relentlessly kindhearted to his brothers and allies/friends, and is even some of his enemies and some of the Madagascar villains.
- He assisted in defeating boatloads of villainy in the Madagascar films and the TV show, The Penguins of Madagascar, with his most admirable action in such aspect involving his deeds in saving Marlene from the pair of vicious badgers (Stacy and Becky) by using the tennis ball machine to hit them into the park after befriending them at first.
- Although he does engage in moments of theft, such as stealing a boat and attempting to hack it in the first film of Madagascar, as well as stealing numerous jeeps in the second film, it is not confirmed if whether or not that he is aware of this, thus being likely possible that he was not aware that stealing was wrong and even if he did know it, he is above harming anyone and was ordered by Skipper to do so, therefore preventing him from accessing any alternatives.
- Private is very merciful and does not show even slight signs of grudge against anyone. Examples include: when the circus animals find out that the Zoosters have lied to them, Private is only one of the four Penguins to not show any signs of disappointment/grudge against them for their lies, as he is fully aware that they didn't mean or intend it. Additionally, despite Skipper regarding him as undervalued, Private does not let that get to him and continues being loyal to him. Plus, Private is almost always remorseful for whatever wrong action he has done; for example, he apologizes to Melman for not offerig the Zoosters their drinks due to being backed up with King Julien, and gives them their drinks regardless, despite the plane crash landing.
Madagascar
- While he did grudgingly say, "Well, this sucks," when accessing Antartica, this was both justifiable and understandable due to how desolate and frozen the place was. Therefore, Private and his adoptive brothers decide to head to Madagascar to assist the Zoosters, the main protagonists of Madagascar, in defeating the vicious Fossas, who attempted mass murder and terrorism.
Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa
- Private gives the Zoosters instructions about plane flight/flying a plane.
- Private and his adoptive brothers are involved in smashing the dam and saving the animals from dying from dehydration.
Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted
- Private alerts his brothers that DuBois has arrived to slaughter Alex, resulting in them launching her and his men out and saving the Zoosters from DuBois' wrath.
- Private assisted the circus animals in saving the Zoosters them when they were captured/kidnapped by DuBois.
Penguins of Madagascar
- He saves the North Wind from being slaughtered by Dave's brutal contraption.
- He goes to save his brothers and the rest of the penguin race, despite the North Wind telling him that they are powerless without their equipment.
- Private manages to snap his brothers out of their mutant trance when Dave transformed them into hideous creatures to invade New York City out of his own vengeance.
- In his most admirable actions, Private willingly sacrifices his own life to save the entire penguin race despite the consequences that would be brought upon himself once he goes straight inside the Medusa Serum, which outright shows his selflessness and that he shows pristine value for the lives of other people, including his adoptive brothers, more than himself.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?
- Despite being the most admirable character of Madagascar (along with being devoid of most of the corrupting factors other characters of the franchise have), Private still manages to show signs of being a bit lethal, such as attempting to kill Nana (even though her fate was deserved for her heinous actions) by running her over after kicking her off the car. Although he asks if she is dead in a visible expression of worry for her, he did not get Skipper to hesitate attempting to run her over when he knows she was not dead yet.
- He engaged in theft, by stealing several human tourists of their vehicles and leaving them stranded.
- He assaulted the crew of humans that were transporting him and the other penguins on a boat ride to Madagascar.
- Although this was mostly because of Skipper being in charge of this idea, Private and the rest of the Penguins make usage of the basin as a battering device with Alex and Zuba (Alex’s father) in them, and Private did not attempt to make Skipper and his other brothers reconsider doing this.
Final verdict
An easy yes. Private is the sweetest and most admirable character of the Madagascar franchise (with his most greatest action being sacrificing himself to save the rest of the entire penguins from Dave's mutation, and worst of all, getting exterminated), but don't be fooled. Not every notably adorable and kindhearted character like Private is morally perfect; he still manages to be quite lethal.
