What's the Work?[]
Alien is a sicence fiction and horror franchise focusing around Xenomorphs, artificial creatures that are thought to be the "perfect lifeform", but are also agressive and bloodthristy killers.
Aliens especifically is the second movie, in which the sole survivor of the last movie, Elen Ripley, goes to a Xenomorph infested colony along with a bunch of marines in order to wipe all of the ugly things out. But things go south real quick...
Who is him?[]
Bishop is a major protagonist. He is an android taken along with the marines as it is proceedure to bring a droid alongside them. Contrasting the sole droid character of the last movie, a traitorious villain only concerned with completing his mission, Bishop is a properly programmed robot whose only desire is protecting and helping out the crew he has been assigned to.
What makes him close to Pure Good?[]
- He always did his best to keep the crew safe.
- He helped drive the remaining Marines out of the Xenomorph infested nest.
- Due to his higher resistance to the physical and psychological state of staying in a very small tunnel for too long, he used one to reach the post where he could make the ship able to fly out of the planet again, essential to save the Marines left (and Newt).
- After picking Dwayne up, he doesn't flee the planet, since Ridley went back to save Newt from the hive. Rather, he waited and saved both of them from the Xenomorph Queen by picking them up.
- Despite being in pain and discomfort after being shredded in half by the Alien Queen, he saved Newt by grabbing her hand when Ridley opened the outer space shut in order to kill the Queen.
- His loyalty and willingnss to save his companions is so strong that it restores Ridley's faith in androids, that had been tettered by the villainous one she had travelled with in the previous movie, Ash.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He has moral agency issues as androids in the series are explicitly stated to follow their programming, with the villainous ones only being so because their missions went against the goals (or lives) of the protagonists. That said, androids are also full of human-like personality, so it is a minor prevention.
Admirable Standarts[]
While he utimately only managed to save 3 people, it is because Apone, Vasquez, Burke and Drake died while he was preparing the ship. If no Xenomorph attacks happened while he was on his mission to fix the ship and get them all out of there, he'd have saved 7 lives. Plus, like the others, he tried to prevent deaths since the beggining. With his loyalty and commitiment to the safety of the humans he works with, he passes the standarts of the series, and while Ridley outclasses him, she has several movies worth of screentime, while he not only has only one, he doesn't even appear that much in it compared to Ridley, Newt and some of the Marines.
