I thought of proposing someone from the Transformers Japanese Generation One Continuity and do the Not-Optimus Prime from Super-God Masterforce Ginrai.
What's the work?[]
Transformers Super-God Masterforce is an continuation of the original G1 Cartoon and the Headmasters being part of the Japanese Generation One Continuity. It features the Headmasters and Godmasters Autobots battling each other as well as original characters Devil Z and most famously BlackZarak and Overlord.
Who is he?[]
Ginrai is an Japanese-American truck driver who originally an normal human until he came across an Transtector originally intended to Optimus Prime (explained in a clipshow recap as an in-unverse explanation for their similar appearances sine his original toy is a retool of Powermaster Optimus Prime) and ends up bonding with it. At first he had no intention to join the war but after seeing the Decepticons' cruelty he stepped up to protect the Earth and eventually become Autobot leader of the Godmasters.
What makes him close to Pure Good?[]
Admirable Standard[]
Since the events of the G1 Cartoon Up to Season 3 and more original stories like Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory Zone, E-Hobby, Legends, Selects as well as Beast Wars, Beast Machines, Beast Wars II & Neo being canon the admirable standards are high but Ginrai has a real chance since I can't compare him to compare him to Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime, Dai Atlas, or Fortress Maxinus since they had higher resources than hin since first two have the Matrix of Leadership at their disposal, Dai Atlas had the Zodiac and Fortress Maxinus being an Titan and all had more troops at their disposal. While Ginrai has Chōkon Power (Akin to similar to Chakara of Naruto and Ki of Dragoj Ball) being an supernatural power very few Transformers can wield it like Godmasters which are only 8 with of them 3 being Decepticons and very few non-Godmasters can use it as Sixknight required special training and could only use Tenchōkon one of the 3 main types (Like how Chakara from Naruto has multiple types) and others require special technogly to wield it like Trypticon or other special cases so it isn't an common ability and still be an lower resource than the Matrix Leadership and the Zoidac while Ginrai only 13 Autobots at his disposal compared to Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime who had entire entire armies at his disposal. While he do gain an Energon Matrix it was way after he did his most admirable acts so he still had lower resources even then and his less powerful than the original Matrix of Leadership.
Admirable Acts[]
While Ginrai did start out as a Hero by Proxy and a bit Anti-Heroic he sheds those preventions later on after embracing it later on and becoming more selfless so those preventions don't matter anymore and is more of an reluctant hero now than a Hero by Proxy.
- He protected the Earth from the Decepticons numerous which include:
- Saving hostages from the Decepticons in Hawaii and took down the Seacon Combiner King Poseidon to save them.
- When Sixknight an neutral samurai-behavior like Transformer challenged him to an duel and despite defeating him he spared him despite his acts and offered an chance of redemption, though Sicknight didn't do it at first in a latter episode he accepts it.
- When the Decepticons framed the Autobots as evil beings twice (viva continuity error despite it being sequel to the Headmasters and G1 Cartoon) by causing disasters where Hydra and Buster caused destruction for instance one and Mega posing as a fortune Teller and had the Decepticons cause disasters to make them seem true, he avoided harming an angry mob of humans going after him in both instances, he saved an entire town from the former and even saved children from from the latter which allowed the humans to turn on the Decepticon allied human thanks to that act making them realize the Decepticons were the evil ones along.
- While reluctant to be Autobot leader after Metalhawk stepped down from their Earthbound Autobots Ginrai ultimately accepts in the end under his own free choice after thinking. Saved Grand Maxinus from an mini-Black Hole created by BlackZarak.
- He also manage to convince Lightfoot, Ranger, and Roadking (Other Godmasters like him) to sway them to the Autobots side before the Decepticons side.
- While the double agent Clouder did betray him and the Autobots, he did accept him back in after the Decepticons left Clouder to die that caused him to change of heart.
- In the Manga he also has similar heroic acts such as saving Cab and Shūta Gō from Mega and putting an end to Devil Z.
- While he did kill Devil Z and BlackZarak (Though the former gets revived later on and the later revealed to survive later on) it was an righteous kill since Devil Z attempted to wipeout humanity so he did it to save billions.
- He felt remorse for Giga & Mega's deaths despite being rivals in both the Anime & Manga by Devil Z's hand (Killed them in the Anime and died due to the latter sustaining the couple's lifeforce so his death meant without him maintaining their lifeforce they died as well)
- In the Legends Manga Ginrai returned once again after gaining an new Transtector after his original one gained sentience:
- He once again took on an revived Devil Z to stop him from terrorizing the Legends World driving the energy being away.
- When Giga & Mega were revived and got two Overlord Transtector's even after defeating them he spared their lives.
Despite the very high admirable standards Ginrai stands out for redeeming Sixknigjt and Giga & Mega, saving the Earth and Legends World from Devil Z, his supporting role against an second Dark Nova and had lower resources when compared to Optimus Prime, Rodimus Prime, Dai Atlas,
What prevents him from being Pure Good[]
Ginrai had some minor wrathful and rage moments where he attacked Hydra and Buster in one instance in a fit of rage and aggressively interrogating Cancer but it was due to the former two Decepticons killing his trucker friends and the Decepticons cruel acts once he saw how evil they are but are minor preventions since they are Heating-Up Periods and he mostly subverted those traits as well as apologized for his outburst on Cancer, though the former can show he can be minor lethal here. He also had a bit of minor jerkish. arrogant and stubborn moments as he can be reckless at times but are minor preventions since it rarely happens.
He also slightly fails the high admirable standards to some other characters as while I can't compare him to Optimus Prime and Rodimus Prime since both have the Matrix of Leadership at their disposal or even Dai Atlas who has the Zoidic his disposal nor I can compare him to other human characters such as the Wittwickys like Spike, Carley and Daniel nor Marissa Fareborn either since they can't use Masterforce to become Transformers themselves save for one instance for Spike but only did one act with it in one Legends manga story and couldn't use Chōkon Power unlike Ginrai, but I can compare him to similar characters who can like Star Saber (An Pure Good) who had similar resources to him yet did a bit more admirable acts than him but however Ginrai has done enough acts to avoid being an Heroic Benchmark such as saving the Earth from Devil Z as well his major supporting role in the Legends Manga as he took on an revived Devil Z again terrorizing the Legends World and his supporting role stood up to Trypticon and Dark Nova so he is only an minor insufficient admirable at best.
Verdict[]
Overall all despite not being Optimus Prime he had done enough admirable acts to stand out on his own for his role in taking down Devil Z and protecting the Legends world but has prone to get a bit hotheaded and jerkish at times and while he can't be compared go Optimus Prime or Rodimus Prime since both have the Matrix of Leadership, he slightly fails to Star Saher who did some more acts than him with similar resources though not too severe to the point of being Heroic Benchmark since he done enough to stand out from them him.
