"In the daytime, I'm Marinette... And you know the rest."
My, my... another version of Marinette Dupain-Cheng in the Near Pure Good Wiki? Good! She has potential to be the character with the bigger number of NPG counterparts.
But seriously, let's propose Marinette the Bee!
What's the work?[]
Scarlet Lady is an alternate universe of the Miraculous franchise, created by Tumblr user zoe-oneesama. In this universe, Chloé Bourgeois steals the Ladybug Miraculous from Marinette Dupain-Cheng and, deciding to become a heroine to gain fame, she becomes the "heroine" of Paris, Scarlet Lady. While she loves posing for the cameras, she has nothing of a heroine and only thinks about herself, with Cat Noir doing all the work and Marinette helping more than her.
Who's the candidate?[]
Marinette Dupain-Cheng is an alternate version of her canonical counterpart of the same name. She is a 13-14 year-old student of Françoise Dupont who occasionally ends up joining the heroes' fights against akumatized villains, and greatly helping her beloved, Cat Noir. Seeing the girl's heroic heart, Master Fu, the guardian of the Miraculouses, gives her the Bee hair clip, the Action Miraculous, which allows the wearer to paralyze any opponent with the Venom power. Using her powers for the greater good, Marinette becomes the superhero Marigold.
What Makes Her So Close Of Being Pure Good?[]
For starts, she is generally a very helpful girl who is always willing to help others and, unlike her original version, she does not have stalker tendencies or an obsessive love for Adrien. Her love for Cat Noir is quite healthy and normal. And right in the first episode of school, she ran to a place where supers were fighting each other just to be able to save Alya. Soon after, even though she didn't have any superpowers at that point, she helps Cat Noir a lot to fight Stoneheart, pointing out his weak point and using Scarlet Lady's Lucky Charm to solve the whole problem.
In the second episode, she calms Mylene when they are both captured by Stoneheart, and after his defeat, she stands up to Hawk Moth when he blames Cat Noir and Scarlet for the damage to the city (although he was somewhat hot-headed). In "The Bubbler", she stands up to the titular Akuma when she realizes that no one is having fun at the party he forcibly created. When she was captured by Copycat, she made sure to expose to the heroes where he was and defend Cat Noir's reputation, as a bonus. She pointed out to the heroes the use of several Lucky Charms, like in Mr. Pigeon; directly helped in the plans to stop Akumas, like in Pharaoh, risked herself to save other people, like in Horrificator, and all this WITHOUT POWERS! What's more, she has already received the Cat Miraculous temporarily and defeated Reflekta!
She also did simpler things, like encouraging Lila not to run away from school, telling her that there are people who care about her and showing her that she is not alone.
When she received the Bee Miraculous, her heroic deeds only increased, as she directly helped Cat Noir protect Paris and save countless people. In "Zombizou", she managed to single-handedly save the entire Paris with a power evolution.
Her moments of being rude to Scarlet Lady or Chloé aren't a prevention, because they don't go to the level of her being a jerk, and in any case, it's justified, given who Chloé is and that she's the one who starts the fights. And despite her contempt for Chloé/Scarlet, she was willing to offer her a chance at redemption, as shown in Day of Heroes - Part 2. She even wishes her good luck in person when she moves away from Paris. And overall, she has almost no corrupting qualities and is one of the nicest people in the series.
Admirable Standards[]
My friend, Marigold does not "pass" the Admirable Standard of the Scarlet Lady AU... she is the Admirable Standard!
Ever since she barely had a Miraculous, she has always helped the heroes as much as she could, helped people close to her and always saved the city when she was a hero, be it Marigold, Maotif, Multimouse or Ladybug. She even saved the entire city from Zombizou by herself! And she is willing to offer second chances to her enemies, as shown by Chloé. Additionally, since the World specials were not adapted, the AU's Admirable Standard is lower than in the original franchise.
So, yes! She don't fails at AU Standards.
What Keeps Her From Being Pure Good?[]
Well, she can be a bit malicious towards her enemies at times, like when she stood up to Chloé in the second episode out of spite or when she arrested Bob Roth by tying him up in tape in "Silencer." And while they definitely deserved it, she took a bizarre pleasure in it, with a cartoonish grin full of sharp teeth. However, considering who her enemies are, that's a minor caveat.
Final veredit?[]
I don't see why not. A firm yes!
