Who Is The Candidate?
The Ultimate Imposter is a supporting character first appearing in Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair. They are a nameless figure who joined Hope's Peak Academy's Class 77-B disguised as Ryota Mitarai, and would appear in Danganronpa 2 disguised as Byakuya Togami from the first game.
What Makes Them Close to Being Pure Good?

- They befriended Ryota Mitarai and agreed to attend Hope’s Peak disguised as him, so he could recover from starvation.
- They attempted to rescue Ryota and Chisa Yukizome with the rest of their classmates.
Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair
- While they appeared to act jerkish and arrogant, it was only a front to keep their disguise as Byakuya up, and they were shown to be caring and protective of their classmates regardless.
- They appointed themselves the leader of their classmates so none of them would be killed.
- They threw a party to confine everyone in one place and try preventing any deaths.
- When they saw that Teruteru was about to kill Nagito, they immediately shoved Nagito out of the way and sacrificed themselves to save him, despite what Nagito was planning.
Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School - Hope Arc
- They, along with the rest of their classmates, rescued the brainwashed Future Foundation members from Ryota.
- Due to their prior friendship with Ryota, they played a pivotal role in convincing him to abandon his plan of brainwashing the world.
- They hugged Ryota and accepted him so they could atone for their past crimes with their classmates.
- They and their classmates shouldered the blame as the Ultimate Despair for the Final Killing Game so that the Future Foundation wouldn’t be blamed.
What Prevents Them From Being Pure Good?
- They fail the standards to Hajime, Chiaki and Nekomaru since they did more overall to help their classmates.
Final Verdict
Dunno how it’ll go really, but I’ll say a weak yes since I believe sacrificing themselves to save Nagito and playing a big role in talking Ryota down is enough for NPG (Fuyuhiko was also voted admirable enough for similar reasons on the IA wiki). It’s up to you.
