“ | Y-you mean it?! Thank you! I'm doing all kinds of training so that I can be just like you! Someday, I'll even master the Great Eagle Bow! | „ |
~ Tulin |
Tulin is a supporting character in the “Era of the Wilds” saga within Nintendo‘s The Legend of Zelda franchise.
He is the only son of Teba and Saki who lived in Rito Village. He is the excitable young Rito who has a passion for archery, and he quickly becomes amazed when he watches the archers in action. He clearly idolizes Revali and his father and longs to become like them so he can protect his village and wield the Great Eagle Bow. His role is slightly expanded upon in the Guardian of Remembrance of Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, where he needed to be rescued from the monsters at Korok Forest. Tulin is the first person to get Revali to open up on his nicer side.
Tulin is voiced by Cristina Valenzuela.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Tulin looks up to Revali and eventually Link due to their heroic feats and had longed to become a powerful warrior like them.
- Tulin is generally polite to those around him and understands that great kids are great greeters, and he hosts a minigame for Link to practice his aerial combat at any time.
- Even though the other Champion successors, including his father have done more admirable actions, Tulin was only a child with no fighting skill at the time anddidn't very much screentime, yet even then he has done some basic acts of heroism on his own without having as much resources as the Champion successors do at the time, and has only become skilled enough over time to achieve greater feats as shown in Tears of the Kingdom where he was able to catch up to them, which is pretty admirable for a kid like him, so he is just behind the successors.
Breath of the Wild[]
- He rewards Link with rupees for showing his archery skills.
Age of Calamity[]
- After Tulin was found in Korok Forest, he had gained much understanding of the forest phenomena such as walls and he was pivotal in guiding Revali, Teba and the Rito Captain guarding him out of the forest safely.
- During his interactions with Revali both in the scenario and the cutscene, Tulin saw the good in Revali, even when he saw his arrogant nature and isn't too bothered by it, and he ended up playing a huge role in helping Revali, who is normally distant and aloof for the most part, drop his emotional barriers and managed to get him to smile and to laugh and the fact that he gave the Rito Champion the assurance that he is still remembered, even after a hundred years, has led Revali to be more appreciative of his role, despite not being the main hero who defeats Calamity Ganon, meaning that Tulin was responsible for Revali's much more light-hearted humbler nature that he showed during the final battle at Hyrule Field, the Castle, and even after the Calamity.
Tears of the Kingdom[]
- While Tulin acted somewhat arrogant, rebellious and immature at first to the point of losing his Swallow Bow in an attempt to do things on his own, it was after Link managed to help him get it back and taught him how important it was to work with others that led him to subvert those factors, and given that they are brief and are more of him being worried for the survival of the Rito, they end up being more of a heating-up period rather than actual corrupting factors.
- Tulin helps Link reach the Wind Temple, disable the locks, engage in battle with Colgera and managed to kill it, which restored Rito Village back to its regular state and puts an end to the food shortage afflicting his people.
- Despite being a child, Tulin accepts his call to become the Rito Sage of Wind after hearing the story of the Imprisoning War, to help Link save the world from the Demon King.
- Tulin, alongside the chosen Sages, save Link from being killed by Ganondorf at Hyrule Castle.
- Tulin and the Sages also came to Link's rescue by helping him fight the major bosses so that he doesn't have to deal with them so he can head straight to Ganondorf. He was the most worried for Link's safety after Ganondorf becomes the Demon Dragon and takes Link with him.
- In the epilogue, Tulin and the Sages make their vow to serve Princess Zelda and to ensure that they and their descendants protect Hyrule for all time.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- While Tulin essentially passed the general standards, he still kind of falls short on the in-story standards to various other characters in the game.
Trivia[]
- Tulin was once a Heroic Benchmark as he once was a generic hero who doesn't do much that crossed the baseline standards, but as of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom where his role was expanded upon, Tulin was updated to Near Pure Good since he passed the general standards of this game.
