His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- The first thing he did when meeting Mario was stopping him from touching a mushroom that he mistook to be poisonous. Although this wasn't the case, he nonetheless wanted to save Mario's life from something he thought was dangerous.
- Immediately decided to help Mario rescue his brother, Luigi from Bowser, despite knowing how dangerous the latter is.
- He distracted the guards so Mario could get inside Peach's castle.
- Despite being physically weak and poor, he accompanied Mario and Peach to the Jungle Kingdom to recruit the Kong Army.
- Cheered on Mario when he had to fight against DK.
- Defends Mario when Donkey Kong makes fun of him for supposedly flirting with Peach, therefore showing his full support of Mario and Peach getting together.
- Chose to stand by Peach to confront Bowser despite having the chance to evacuate with the rest of the civilians, at the cost getting tortured by Kamek until Peach agreed to surrender.
- He freed Peach from Bowser's forced wedding by giving her an Ice Flower in her bouquet, allowing her to prevent Bowser from killing the prisoners long enough for Mario and Donkey Kong to arrive. This stands out on its own because nothing indicates it’s under Peach’s orders.
- He, along with Peach and Donkey Kong, stopped Bowser from killing a battered Mario when he cornered him in Brooklyn.
- He was the one who put Bowser in a jar after Peach shrunk him with a Mini-Mushroom so he couldn't get away. Afterwards, he cheers for the Mario Bros. for saving the day.
- Even though Mario and Peach are more admirable than him, they have more resources, while he is physically weak like all the other Toads and lacks the fighting abilities they have.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He has various moments of being mischievous such as tossing a Biddybud away in a pout of excitement and showing his bare chest in front of Peach. Though to be fair, these moments are played for laughs and none of them do any actual harm so this comes across as a very minor prevention.
- Sometimes showcases arrogant and jerkish behavior, such as whacking Mario with a stick to prove that he's not dreaming and showing off in front of him and Peach when getting his kart with there being no altruistic reason to do so.
Trivia[]
- Only this version of Toad can count as Near Pure Good, as the original Toad cannot qualify due to the standards being much higher in the game series with Toad being unable to stand out.
- He and Donkey Kong are the only characters from The Super Mario Bros. Movie to be Near Pure Good.
