Tetra (also known as Princess Zelda) is the tritagonist of The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and a major character in its 2007 sequel The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.
She is the leader of the gang of pirates that she inherits from her late mother and is one of the most respected members despite being younger than them. She is unaware of her royal heritage up until she first arrives in the sunken kingdom of Hyrule where she discovers this revelation. After Ganondorf is defeated, Tetra and Link set off to settle on new land to call home.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Even though Tetra was hesitant to take Link alongside her, even making it clear that she and her crew are pirates who are notorious terrors of the sea, she ends up doing so once Quill convinces her so Link can save Aryll.
- During Link's first trek into the Forsaken Fortress, she gives Link advice on avoiding the searchlights since he lost his sword and was unable to fight back if caught, and she gave hints on certain game mechanics that are helpful to him.
- Even though Tetra and her crew were robbing a bomb shop on Windfall Island and had its owner held hostage, it was clear that the owner had his bombs at an extremely high price no one could afford, and the incident had him reduce his prices significantly and the owner did change for the better, though it isn't clear if that was intentional on her part. She hasn't been doing it for the rest of the game nor in Phantom Hourglass.
- Tetra was adamant about heading to Outset immediately after getting the bombs and states that something bad could happen there as it did Great Fish Isle if they don't. But upon noticing Link, she chooses not to alert her crew of him spying on them and lets them have their way so they can hang out at the coffee shop instead.
- She later reveals to Link that she's aware he took some of their bombs after beating a challenge Nico gives him, but was still willing to give him a head start on reaching Outset Island to find Jabun. She also has the courtesy to warn him that he didn't get all of them and once the sun rises, they will set sail and try to beat him there. After Link gets Nayru's Pearl, Tetra and her crew are revealed to have given their bombs away to Beedle which helps make bombs easier to access.
- By the time Link returns to Forsaken Fortress in another attempt to save his sister, she distracts the Helmaroc King to give Link enough time to reach Aryll, after which she and her crew take Mila and Maggie to their ship, and when she offers to take Aryll, she points out that she would normally expect a huge reward, but she is willing to return her home for his sake.
- When she leaves, she promises that she will return, and during Link's confrontation with Ganondorf when the boy is at the King of Evil's mercy, she arrives, bravely stands up to him and even temporarily fights him even though she didn't stand a chance and was swiftly defeated before Quill and Komali rescue them.
- Once Tetra transforms into Princess Zelda, she starts to change for the better and apologizes to Link for all the trouble that he and his sister were put through.
- After waking up, she hands Link back the Master Sword and uses his bow to shoot Light Arrows at Ganondorf. During the final phase when Ganondorf dodges all of her direct shots, she tells Link to use his Mirror Shield while she aims at him, which allows for Ganondorf to be stunned and soundly defeated.
- As King Daphnes was bidding them farewell, she came up with an idea to seek new land and offers to let him join them on their journey to that place, though the king chooses to stay behind in the flooded Hyrule.
- Before the events of Spirit Tracks, she was able to befriend a Lokomo named Anjean and is entrusted the Spirit Flute under the trust that she and her descendants protect New Hyrule for all time.
- Even after she long since passed away, during the final battle with Malladus, she gave her descendant Princess Zelda the blessing to return to her body.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- Tetra is notable for being arrogant, which is shown consistently throughout the games she is in, and it has led her to making hasty decisions to rush into something that puts her in danger. It's especially prevalent in Phantom Hourglass where her crew is trying to warn her about the Ghost Ship, but she insists that its unruly pirates they're dealing with and boards it herself, which gets her imprisoned on the ship.
- She is also noted for being a bit too wrathful and a jerk towards her crew, especially Niko, which ends up carrying over into Phantom Hourglass where she pokes fun at Niko for believing the Ghost Ship exists and looks down on his worth. During the ending, she was mad at the crew for not bothering to search for her, though in this case it was understandable due to how stressful it was for her, but after the Ghost Ship vanishes it ends with Tetra arguing with the crew again. In both cases, even if she started to improve, she never truly subverted those traits.
Trivia[]
- Tetra was once considered Pure Good due to her page being united with her mainline incarnations on Heroes Wiki, though once it was split for each incarnation to have their own page, she was re-evaluated along with half of the incarnations and was rejected from Pure Good due to her not really losing her corrupting factors, and she was approved on this wiki instead.
- She, Groose and, Ravio are the only Zelda characters outside of the "Era of the Wilds" saga to be Near Pure Good.
- This is the only canon incarnation of Princess Zelda who is Near Pure Good and the only incarnation to have unsubverted corrupting factors whereas half the other incarnations that were removed from Pure Good were revealed to be too standard for either status.
