Terry Malloy is the main protagonist of Elia Kazan's 1954 crime drama movie On the Waterfront.
Although he was once a talented potential boxer, one day, Johnny Friendly arranged a fixed match in order to ruin his boxing career and recruited him to work in his docks. Upon meeting his true love Edie Doyle, as well as his mentor Father Barry, he found his purpose in life again and rebelled against the corrupted dock mob for the people's rights.
He was portrayed by the late Marlon Brando.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- He was a bird protector as he was seen to kept and took care of many pigeons on the rooftop.
- When Johnny Friendly tried to bribe him as he was the only person who witnessed Joey Doyle's death under Johnny's arms. At first, he was confused and did not know what was right or wrong, but after his love for Edie Doyle, Joey's sister, as well as Father Barry's convincing him to testify, he started to pursue in getting freedom for his fellow workers.
- He attended Johnny Friendly's meeting as a snitch, but when his plan got blown up, he helped Edie escape from them.
- When his brother Charley was sent by the mob to suppress him, he did not just refuse to do so, but also had a heart to heart conversation with his brother, showing his regrets and missed opportunities taken by him and blamed him for his tragedy.
- Thanks to Edie's love and Father Barry's belief in justice, Terry sacrificed his high position and powerful connections in the docks and was willing to side with the poor workers to demand freedom for them.
- He confidently stood up for himself and fought Johnny man to man, so that he could stop the corruption once and for all, saving dozens, if not hundreds, of workers' lives and made their careers easier.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Good?[]
- He was a bit jerkish sometimes, as he ocassionally ignored Father Barry's advice and somewhat reluctant to listen to him. This is minor as he still decided to stand up for the corrupted dock mobs and to gain the lower class' freedom.
