Theodore Jasper "TJ" Detweiler is the main protagonist of the Recess franchise.
He is voiced by Ross Malinger in season 1 and then Andrew Lawrence after season 1.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- In Recess: School's Out, he stops Dr. Benedict's plan to ban summer vacation, thus saving the world from eternal winter.
- He is friendly to everyone around him, including his enemies.
- He solves everyday problems that happens during Recess.
- He has a sense of honor, such as feeling guilty for taking advantage of Ms. Finster when her leg was injured.
- He gives Randall advice about valuing his friendship with Ms. Finster.
- He always stands up to bullies, such as challenging the tyrannical King Bob and reminding him that recess is meant for students to have fun and make friends, not to be bullied and bossed around by him.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He is known to be pretty mischievous and a bit of a troublemaker:
- On top of being very snarky towards the school's staff, he regularly schemes up pranks that creates chaos at school. However, most of these pranks are harmless and are pulled off with the sole purpose of making children happier in the school (such as giving everybody ice cream on the last day of school), so this is a minor prevention.
- Along with his friends, he accidentally vandalizes the school statue.
