Kara Zor-El, better known as Supergirl is a heroine from DC Comics, being Superman's cousin, female counterpart, and one of the biggest heroines of the DC universe.
Kara was created by writer Otto Binder and artist Al Plastino in 1959, first appearing in Action Comics #252. She is Superman's cousin and fellow kryptonian surviver, who usually protects Metropolis in his absence, and do heroic deeds of her own, was a member of Justice League, and is said to be one of the most influent heroines in DC: "She was an early example of a female sidekick developing a large fanbase in her own right. Supergirl has been one of DC's most powerful heroes, and a standard to hold other female heroes against.".
