Sunset Shimmer is one of the main protagonists of the My Little Pony: Equestria Girls franchise, serving as the main antagonist in the original My Little Pony Equestria Girls movie and one of the main protagonists for the rest of the series.
She is voiced by Rebecca Shoichet. In the Japanese dub, she is voiced by Ami Koshimizu, whom also voiced Ryuko Matoi from Kill la Kill.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- While she used to be a villain where she often bullied other students who stood in her way and attempted to take over Equestria by creating an army of brainwashed students, this is because she doesn't fully understand the magic of friendship and she never intended to be evil in the first place despite her crimes. However, she later redeemed herself and gave up on her hunger for power.
- She felt remorse over her past actions and apologized to those whom she hurt and made up for her actions.
- She cleaned Fluttershy when she got paint on her face.
- She contacted Twilight via book so she could help her and her friends stop the Dazzlings.
- She stopped the Mane Six from arguing when she understood the Dazzlings were trying to make them all argue so they could steal their magic.
- Helping the Rainbooms defeat the Dazzlings.
- Convince Sci-Twi into accepting her offer of friendship and redemption.
- Defeating Gloriosa Daisy to stop her from rampage.
- Helping her friends won the "Chance to Prance" music contest.
- Revealing the mastermind behind the theft of the props on the Daring Do set.
- When Wallflower tried to take her friends memories of high school, she decided to sacrifice her own, even if it meant she was giving up everything she's been through from the Human World.

- Despite her redemption, she's still prone to have anger issues, as shown when she lashed out at Human Twilight Sparkle for messing around with magic she didn't understand, despite showing remorse shortly after.
- She also has some minor jerkish and selfish moments, such as when she ditched Pinkie Pie from seeing PostCrush with her, hurting her feelings in the process.
