I've always had this way of somehow managing to squeak through anything? Like schoolwork and sports for instance. But... somewhere along the way... So I decided I'd set my sights higher. But the next thing I knew, after taking a good look around... I found there was no one left but me. It was right then and there when I finally realized, despite all my efforts to be the center of attention... there was nothing special about me at all. From that moment on, I just tried to be invisible, doing my best not to stand out. And that's how I made it all through middle school, things changed after that... Honestly, I really blew my high school debut in a big way. It was bound to happen though. I'd never had any real relationships up to that point. High school wasn't gonna be any better. And then, one day, it kinda hit me... I just... didn't want to go to school, at all. Everything snowballed from there. I skipped school once a week, then once every three days, then every other day... It didn't even take me three months, before I'd stopped going there altogether. But somehow, no matter how pathetic I was, you and Mom just treated me the same way, like it didn't make any difference. I think that's what scared me most of all. I wanted you to say, "I don't love you." Or "I can't stand you." Or maybe even "You are not my son." I really hoped you'd tell me that and then throw me out. I wanted you to just make me give it all up.

Subaru Natsuki, also known as the Cult Killer, is the main protagonist of the Japanese dark fantasy light novel series Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, as well as its anime television series and manga adaptations of the same name.
He wanted to help Emilia get her stolen insignia after she saved him.
When the girl starts crying about not finding her parents, he calms her down by showing her a magic trick involving his coin.
Him and Emilia helped a little girl return to her family.
As he was slowly dying from a certain person, he swore that he would save Emilia before dying by holding hands together.
After his return by death, he tries to get the insignia by offering his cellphone before Emilia comes and dies.
He protected Emilia and felt from being killed by distracting Elsa.
When Roswaal was about to give him a reward, he chose to be a servant to help everyone in the mansion.
Despite failing to do his job as a butler, he still hasn’t given up and still remains a butler for 4 days before he dies on the fifth day by an unknown cause.
When he accidentally scares Rem and Ram when he returns to his last save point, he apologizes to them for scaring them.
Unlike the last 2 incident, he decided to be a guest to gather information in order to survive what killed him.
He left the mansion on the day he died because he wanted to protect everyone in the mansion from an unknown entity.
When Rem was torturing Subaru for information, he admits that he loves both of them, showing that he still cares for Rem and Ram (even though they killed and tortured him).
When Rem dies on the fifth day and Ram tries to kill Subaru for killing Rem (even though he didn’t do anything), he still loves her and jumps off the cliff killing him.
The reason why he killed himself is because he wants to save Rem from her death showing he still cares about everyone.

Tries to fight the demon beast with a broken sword to protect Rem and Ram.

When Petelgeuse took over Subaru’s body, he offered Ferris and Julius to kill him to stop Petegeus from killing anyone
He and Juvius defeated Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti from destroying more lives.
When realized Conti wasn’t dead and was chasing the carts, he stopped him by writing “the end” in the gospel, causing Conti to die by the cartage wheel.
He saves Emilia and the children from the bomb underneath the cartage.
He apologizes to her for everything he did for her and his sake.
When asked why he was willing to help her, he said because he loved her showing he still cares for her.
He abandoned his impulsive personality and learned to be a more reliable, judicious and useful person than how he was at the beginning of the series.
When Rem gets defeated by Lye and Corneus, he kills himself and attempts to save her only to realize that he couldn't save her.
Promising Rem to save her from Gluttony.
When he finds the villagers, he promises everyone that he will save everyone from the sanctuary.
When Emilia becomes metally unstable, he comforts her.
When Beatrice asks Subaru to kill her, he refuses and instead intends to save her.
He tries to save everyone in the mansion from Elsa and Meili.
He cares a lot about his family when put into the first trial.
Before he dies from killing himself, he looks at Satella and promised her that he will save her no matter what.
After hearing that Satella loves Subaru for giving her light, showing the outside world, holding her hand when she’s lonely, kissing her, giving her a reason to live and telling him that his Return by death was a gift not a curse, he promised to save Satella even though she asked him to kill her.
He encourages and convinces Emilia to discuss what she saw in her trial.
He confronted Garfiel that he was scared of something and proved to Garfiel that he was kind hearted.
Managed to help Garfiel to understand the truth about his mother and help him pass the trial which led them becoming good friends.
When Emilia went into the sanctuary, he carved pictures and words inside the first room to cheer her up when Emilia was sleeping.
Tries to destroy the beats by burning it.
He convinced Beatrice to accept him, telling her that even if she lived longer than him, he would make sure she'd never forget him, prompting her to finally refer to him by his name.
Him and Beatrice defeated the great rabbits by sending them into another dimension.
He forgives Meili for what she did to him and his friends and offered her a panda plush to comfort her and help her out.
Him alongside, Emilia, Reinhard and Regulus wives defeated Regulus stopping his terror and in an attempt to make Emilia his next wife.
He redeemed Meili by joining her in his team, causing Meili to see Subaru as an older brother.
When Shaula was about to kill herself, he stopped her and died showing he won’t let anyone die and wants everyone to be saved. He defeats Lye for putting Rem in a coma.
Despite being beaten up, getting killed, being tortured and losing his friends, he still remains positive, refuses to give up and still finds a way to come back.
While he may have other corruption factors, he subverted them as the series went on.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
He does have some perverted moments such as after he got up from his bed, he was about to touch Rem and Ram's breasts. However, given the fact they are only for comical moments, it's a minor prevention.
He has moments where he was shown to be arrogant and a jerk sometimes despite shedding most of his corruption factors.
