~ Soothsayer encouraging Po to defeat Lord Shen. |
Soothsayer is a major protagonist in Kung Fu Panda 2.
She is an elderly goat who can see the future, and was once asked to see the future of the Lords of Gongmen City's child, Shen. She saw he'd be a power hungry and evil conqueror who would be stopped by a black and white warrior. After this prediction results in the genocide of Pandas and in the Lord's deaths out of broken hearts, leading to Shen's rise to power, Soothsayer becomes Shen's "advisor", or merely a person who he only keeps with him most of the time because he wants to show her prophecy is wrong.
She was voiced by Michelle Yeoh.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- She made a prophecy for Shen's parents for them to see what would happen should he continue his evil ways.
- She also showed remorse for not predicting the panda genocide and not being able to do anything about it.
- Over the course of the film, she tried to get Shen to acknowledge his mistakes and take her prophecy seriously, making her the only character trying to put Shen on a path of redemption.
- She was prideful of Po and believed he can fulfill her prophecy despite his non-threatening looks.
- She berated Shen for destroying his home and revealed how much his parents loved him in a last attempt to get him to think things through.
- Even after everything, she still told Shen that she hopes he finds happiness after he releases her, truly wishing he would change for the better, despite him being too far gone.
- She saved Po after he was critically injured after Shen's blast, as she told him that if she wanted him dead, she would've left him in the river. She then helped him get his memories back together and let go of his trauma, convincing him to not to hold on to the past and to instead decide who he is in the present, leading him to defeat Shen and save China.
- Since she is no fighter, she passes the Admirable Standards for playing a big role in defeating Shen by saving Po and helping him cure his trauma.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She is a bit mischievous as she painfully plucked out one of Shen's feathers and took a few bites out of his robe, and while he deserved it, the movie plays them more as comedic moments where she is being snarky and antagonistic for no reason.
