Sonic the Hedgehog is the titular main protagonist of the film series of the same name.
He is an anthropomorphic hedgehog born on the planet known as Green Hill Zone with the power of supersonic speed. He was forced to leave the Green Hill Zone from the evil Echidnas and build a life for himself on Earth. He is the film's adaptation of Sonic the Hedgehog from the video game franchise.
He is voiced by Benjamin L. Valic as a child and by Ben Schwartz as a teenager. Schwartz also voiced Randy Cunningham in Randy Cunningham: 9th Grade Ninja, and Dewey Duck from the DuckTales 2017 reboot.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Unlike most of his counterparts who could be pretty arrogant and jerkish sometimes, this version of Sonic lacks these qualities.
- He idolized Tom Wachowski for his good deeds during the 10 years he was hiding alone on Earth.
- Although he had a brief moment where he chastised Tom for abandoning Green Hills, even calling him a jerk for doing so, it's somewhat justified since he lived a full of danger and hiding and was being chased his entire life while Tom had nothing bad going on himself, so it's more of a Heating-Up Period.
- Furthermore, when he was going to leave Earth and travel to a different world, he apologized for what he said about Tom, showing that he felt remorseful for what he said and was merely in the moment.
- He saved Tom and Maddie from Robotnik at the Transamerica Pyramid and also prevented them from falling to their deaths.
- He saved a turtle from being hit by a car.
- When he finally recovered his strength, instead of running away from everyone, he chose using his power to protect the citizens of Green Hills from Robotnik over prioritizing his own safety, he later defeated Robotnik and sent him to the Mushroom Planet.
- This also inspired Tails to leave his village, where everyone from his home world believed his two tails were weird and unnatural, to go assist him and protect people.
- He truly cares greatly for Longclaw, his family, and Tails.
- After learning that Tails was self-conscious about having two tails, Sonic assures him that his trait was nothing to be ashamed of which helped Tails feel better about himself.
- He empathized with Knuckles when the latter told him that he also lost the people he considered family to him like his father, since Sonic when he was young also lost Longclaw, who was like a mother to him.
- When Tails was knocked unconscious by Robotnik, who stole their compass that would lead to the Master Emerald, Sonic rushed to his aid instead of retrieving said compass back, something even Knuckles himself noticed.
- He went to go find the Master Emerald alone, not wanting to put anyone else in danger after Tails was knocked out by Robotnik.
- He saved Knuckles from drowning even though they were enemies and he attempted to kill him several times.
- He forgave Knuckles for everything he had done to him previously, knowing that he was manipulated by Robotnik and not evil at heart. By then, the two of them became great friends and battle comrades after they realized how similar they are and that Knuckles wasn't a bad person.
- When Robotnik trapped an injured Sonic, Tom and Maddie in the ring of fire, Sonic initially encouraged them to get away from him since he knew Robotnik was only after him.
- Once he used the Chaos Emeralds and transforms into Super Sonic, he defeated Robotnik and saved the whole world, possibly even the entire multiverse as a whole.
- Despite having become a powerful entity, Sonic ultimately chooses to separate himself from the Chaos Emeralds' overwhelming power after using it simply to create a chili dog, humbly stating that he still has more to learn.
- He tries to help Knuckles understand that being on Earth isn't bad.
- When Knuckles attempted to threaten Maddie for grounding him, Sonic advised him not to provoke her when she's as angry as she is.
- He tried to cheer up Knuckles during his grounding.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He is a bit mischievous, such as when he messed with the bar patrons while speeding, throwing a house party while Tom and Maddie were away, and messing with Crazy Carl and putting the hunter in his own traps.
- He can also be a bit reckless at times, such as when he kicked Tom and Maddie off a building, which nearly got them killed because he goofed off while smashing Robotnik's robots over actually trying to take him down as it gave Robotnik the time he needed to use his quill to power his ship. Though to be fair, he was unaware that Eggman even had one of his quills to begin with at the time, meaning he probably would have acted differently had he known. Another reckless moment he had was when he drove a bank truck and didn't know how to stop it from moving while also trying to get rid of some bombs, and ended up throwing one into a sewer grate, destroying the city block in the process.
Trivia[]
- He is one of two heroes from a Sonic the Hedgehog film series to be Near Pure Good, the other being Wade Whipple.
- Though he is currently Near Pure Good, this could change with the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3 Movie.
