Shining Armor is a major character in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. He first appeared in the two-part season two finale "A Canterlot Wedding". He is a male unicorn pony who is the eldest child and a son of Twilight Velvet and Night Light, an older brother of Twilight Sparkle, a husband of Princess Cadance, and a father of Flurry Heart. He used to be a captain of Canterlot Royal Guard until he married Princess Cadance and beared the prince title. In the season three premiere, he and Cadance became rulers of Crystal Empire.
He was voiced by Andrew Francis.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- When Twilight was upset that he doesn't tell her about the wedding, he assured that he's always been there with her and always will be important to him.
- Aware that there is a threat to safety of Canterlot, he used his magic to create a protective barrier around the Canterlot to ensure that it was safe.
- With Cadance and her love gave him strength, they were able to combined their magic in order to defeat Queen Chrysalis and the changelings and blast them away from Canterlot.
- Implied of apologized to Twilight for his actions during the rehearsal as he makes her his Best Mare again.
- He was very grateful of Twilight for helping him save Canterlot from the changelings.
- Allowed Twilight and her friends to get to the Crystal Empire by dealing with King Sombra so he wouldn't have to attack them.
- Stays with Cadance to help her maintain her protective forcefield around the Crystal Empire.
- Helping Cadance save Spike and the Crystal Heart from King Sombra.
- Congratulates Twilight at her princess coronation.
- Orders security to cut the unicorn disabling spell to have the unicorns survived from the falling frozen clouds.
- Though he angrily calls Discord a traitor, this is justified since he allying himself with Lord Tirek to help him steal all magic from everypony.
- Told Pinkie not to spill his and Cadance's secret to ensure that their scavenger hunt will still be kept as a surprise for Twilight.
- After Spike standing up for himself to defend Thorax and convincing them to give him a chance, he decided to let go of his grudge towards the changelings and welcome Thorax to the Crystal Empire.
- He, Cadance and Flurry help Twilight and the others fight against the magic pudding.
- Despite aware that Sombra will take over the Crystal Empire, he and Cadance agreed to surrender themselves to let Flurry Heart go of him.
- Surprised that Spike has won the "supreme sibling" contest, he and Twilight declared that he is the "true sibling" supreme.
- He and Cadance helped the Mane Six in the final battle and agreed to protect Flurry as Equestria's "last hope".
- Despite the Mane Six has saved Equestria from any evil threats many times, he still stands out with less resources since they have Elements of Harmony and magic of friendship while he has a normal magic. However, he still managed to save Canterlot from Queen Chrysalis and the Changelings alongside Princess Cadance.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- There are times where he was being jerkish and easily loses his temper.
- He is shown to be stubborn few times.
- In "A Canterlot Wedding", he angrily refused to believe that Cadance is "evil", wrongfully blamed Twilight for accusing her of that and forbids her from coming to the wedding, hurting her feelings in process. Because of this, Twilight's friends and even her own mentor Princess Celestia took his side as result. However, this is because he was not aware that Cadance was actually Queen Chrysalis in disguise, which leads him into getting brainwashed by her and the changelings (except for Thorax, who stayed out of the situation) almost destroyed Canterlot.
- In "The Times They Are A Changeling", Spike tried to tell the guards that changeling can be friends, but he stubbornly refuses to believe this and claims that there's no such thing as nice changeling.
- Has a hard time forgiving others, including Discord and Thorax.
- He is shown to be arrogant, such as when he boastfully believes that he can win the "supreme sibling" contest against Twilight and gloats in on her face when she fails to outsmart him.
