Shinichi Izumi is the main protagonist of the Parasyte anime/manga series.
He is a human who gets fused with a parasyte, a creature called Migi, and over the series hunts down and kills other parasytes that are threats to the humans and try to kill them.
He is voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki in the Japanese version of the anime and Adam Gibbs in the English version.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- In general, he is a kind-natured person who cares for his family and peers and believes that all life matters, no matter what species.
- He stops a group of bullies from torturing an innocent cat.
- Loves his girlfriend and parents, doing anything to protect them.
- Cooperates with Migi to destroy several Parasytes throughout town.
- Helps kill Mr. A, a Parasyte who is murdering countless innocent students in his school.
- Saves his school from another Parasyte named Hideo Shimada, preventing more mass murder.
- Kills the Parasyte who killed his mother, thus saving another hybrid man like him.
- He feels guilt over having placed the dead puppy in the garbage can, choosing to respectfully bury the puppy instead.
- Saves a little boy from a car crash and doesn’t expect any thanks for doing so.
- Feels immense anger when Kana is killed by a Parasyte and kills that one.
- Tells his father to check into a hotel so Parasytes don’t kill him.
- Prevents Migi from killing a detective investigating them, then offers to work with that detective to stop the Parasyte.
- Helps the government locate Parasytes throughout town and prevents a mass murder spree in a mall. Doing this, he also helps stop Mayor Hirokawa and his cabal of Parasytes.
- Without the help of Migi, he single-handedly faces the monstrous Gotoh (while also saving Migi from him) who plans to slaughter humanity despite being clearly outmatched. He ended up killing him and saving Migi by accident.
- Despite him being an extremely dangerous and ruthless mass murderer, Shinichi initially showed sympathy for Gotou and wanted to spare him since he thought he should have the right to live. He did decide to regretfully kill him at the end, though.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Has a few brutal or jerkish moments, such as brutally beating some bullies, showing lethality at killing monsters and screaming at Kana to shut up. This is a minor prevention though because it is clear having his heart fused with a parasite is affecting his morality and personality to an extent and he was a kind-hearted but cowardly person before. He seemingly loses these traits once him and Migi separate.
- Before being fused with Migi, he showed lethality and recklessness towards the Parasite who killed his mom, causing him to ignore the other parasite hybrid in danger.
