Shikamaru Nara is a major character in the Naruto anime and manga series. He is a member of the Team 10 and one of the most intelligent members of the Konoha 11. He was the first out of Konoha 11 to become a chuunin. Shikamaru has been loyal to the Hidden Leaf Village and fought against members of the Akatsuki. Since the Fourth Ninja World War, Shikamaru serves Naruto Uzumaki, the Seventh Hokage, as his right-hand. However, since Naruto's disappearance, Shikamaru steps up to be the unofficial Eighth Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village.
He is voiced by Shotaro Morikubo in the Japanese version (who also voiced Yosuke Hanamura in Persona 4), and by Tom Gibis in the English version.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Befriended a young Choji Akimichi when he was bullied by other children as well as Naruto Uzumaki despite being considered a monster to most of the village.
- Helped his team during Chunin Exams at Forest of death by immobilizing Dosu.
- Ultimately saved Rock Lee by from Gaara killing him by using his shadow with Naruto and convinced Gaara to leave.
- During the Konoha Crush, he was useful by stopping some of the Oto shinobis with his shadow jutsu. He served as the leader of the Sasuke Recovery Team by doing plans and he served a big role by fighting Tayuya, he was later saved by Temari who helped him to defeat her.
- During the Akatsuki Suppression Arc he served as a support for Asuma against Hidan and Kakuzu.
- After his mentor's death, he decides to revenge him by killing Hidan. What he did do is to use his jutsu to separate him from Kakuzu and fighting at the Nara forest.
- He tricked Hidan by faking his death which make him killing one of the Kakuzu's hearts without he knew and also Shikamaru indirectly saved Kakashi when he was going to be killed by Kakuzu. Later he managed to burry Hidan, an Akatsuki member who is immortal and let him suffer and die to nutrition later with his explosive tags.
- Despite it being ruthless, it was necessary as Hidan was too dangerous to be let go and he would not help the Hidden Leaf.
- During Pain's assault, he was assigned to decipher Jiraiya's dying message about the identity of Pain.
- During the Fourth Great Ninja War he was assigned to the Fourth Division and stopped some reincarnated ninjas such as Edo Asuma, Edo Kinkaku. He was also one of the best supports during the overall war when he immobilized The Ten-Tails with his jutsu.
- Helps save the Land of Silence from the tyrannical rule of Getto, while freeing Sai and others from his brainwashing.
- Overall, he is one of the only few persons that was friend with Naruto during his childhood even when everybody despised him and he later became Naruto’s right hand when he did become Hokage and years later he started to become one of the important support against the Otsutsuki Clan and Kara.
- After Kawaki tricked the Hidden Leaf into believing Boruto supposedly killed Naruto, Shikamaru ascended to the Provisional Eighth Hokage so that Konoha could be safeguarded from threats.
- After hearing Amado's theory of everyone's memories of Boruto and Kawaki had been altered by Ada's Omnipotence, Shikamaru realizes that his memories of "Kawaki as Naruto's son" are completely fake and he knows that Boruto is the real son of Naruto Uzumaki. To keep Ada from noticing, he secretly orders Ino to connect Boruto telepathically and helps him.
- Shikamaru finally learns the truth about what actually happened three years ago from Boruto, and knows that he is innocent. Shikamaru tells Boruto that until they are ready to expose Kawaki's action to the village, they must work together in the shadows as long as Boruto is a criminal.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Although he has subverted most of these qualities, he still has a very few jerk moments when he is rude and obnoxious. A notable example of this is towards Kawaki, an orphan he ends up being unable to trust which causes him to feel like a bigger outcast.
