Sergeant Tamora Jean Calhoun, better known simply as Calhoun, is a major character in Disney's 52nd full-length animated feature film Wreck-It Ralph and a supporting character in its sequel Ralph Breaks the Internet.
She is a soldier who after going through a traumatic event of losing her beloved, became cold and stoic. However, it is through her interactions with Felix and her assistance in saving the arcade that she becomes more laid back.
She was voiced by Jane Lynch.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- While she did start off cold and rude, she is shown to subvert all of these corrupting qualities by the end of the first film.
- Although she's extremely lethal towards the Cy-Bugs, it is extremely justified as they were programmed as mindless, destructive beasts that can't be reasoned with and lacked sapience found in othee video game antagonists such as Ralph, effectively making them potentially dangerous if they're left unchecked or go Turbo.
- To further drive this point, anyone who devoured by a Cy-Bug would become one with it thus suffered a fate worse than death; despite retaining their sense of self, the victim would eventually be overwhelmed by the mechanical creature's hive mind and instincts thus a safer bet being putting them out of their misery — the exact thing that happened to Dr. Brad Scott, Calhound's late fiancé, that she had no choice but put him back to rest. Althouth Turbo/King Candy fared better than Dr. Brad Scott, it was more attributed to his more malicious mindset aligned with destructive tendencies in the Cy-Bug who devoured him despite just as susceptible.
- As captain of her soldiers, her goal is to take down as many Cy-Bugs as possible.
- When she sees Ralph with a baby Cy-Bug, she follows him to Sugar Rush to try and abolish it.
- While she was initially hesitant to allow Felix to assist her in fixing Ralph's mess, she ultimately relents and allows him to come along.
- Managed to save herself and Felix from sesquik-sand by slapping Felix several times (of which was done with Felix's consent).
- Her ultimate goal in destroying the Cy-Bugs is to save the entire arcade from being infested and destroyed by them, with her being willing to put herself in life-threatening situations to stop them.
- While she did kick Felix out of her space shuttle, this is understandable as he had accidentally triggered a trauma response (specifically, where Felix called her a "dynamite gal", in which her late fiancé Dr. Brad Scott, who was eaten by a Cy-Bug on her wedding day and who she was forced to kill, had called her the same exact thing).
- While she did slap Ralph in the face with her helmet upon seeing him, this is understandable as he had more or less risked the lives of the entire arcade because of his own selfish desires.
- Upon the Cy-Bugs coming out in full force, she, along with Ralph and Felix, try their best to fend them off and to evacuate Sugar Rush's citizens.
- When they are cornered by Cy-Bugs, she and Felix try to protect Vanellope from being eaten, despite their ultimate inability to.
- She ultimately makes up with Felix for their previous interaction and they go on to fall in love.
- When Sugar Rush is unplugged, she and Felix take it upon themselves to take care of all of the now homeless Sugar Rush Racers.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She fails the admirable standards to Ralph and Vanellope, with Ralph directly saving the entire arcade from the Cy-Bugs, and Vanellope, who played a crucial part in saving the entire internet from Ralphzilla.
- She shows some sadism in a few moments. When finding out Ralph isn't in the spaceship, she said she would have slapped his corpse if he was there. As well as when when Vanellope (jokingly) announces she would execute everyone who bullied her, she calmly claimed Sugar Rush has gotten more interesting while Ralph and Felix were shocked by it.
Trivia[]
- With her, Felix and Ralph being Near Pure Goods, this makes Wreck-It Ralph the only original CGI Disney film in the 2010s to not have any Pure Good hero.
- She is the only Wreck-It Ralph Near Pure Good to not have been originated in Fix-It Felix Jr., as she instead came from Hero's Duty. Ironically, she would soon marry that video game's titular protagonist, another NPG.
