I know it's probably not the best time to have this realization, but I probably shouldn't have been dating you in the first place. Apparently a 23-year-old dating a high schooler is frowned upon by society.
~ Scott apologizing to Knives.

Scott Pilgrim is the titular deuteragonist of the 2023 Netflix original anime Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, which is loosely based on the original Scott Pilgrim comics & film.

After meeting the girl of his dreams, Ramona Flowers, his concert is interrupted by her first Evil Ex Matthew Patel, who challenges him to a fight. During the fight, Scott is seemingly killed, but it turns out he was actually kidnapped and teleported to the future by his older self.

He is voiced by Michael Cera, who reprises his role as Scott from the 2010 film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World and also voiced Hank in Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

In General[]

  • He is way more heroic and noble than his original counterpart, as despite never having to defeat Ramona's 7 Evil Exes, he still sees the errors of his ways and changes for the better.
  • While his role is comparatively smaller in the series, he still manages to pass the baseline for attempting to change his destiny by rejecting his future self.
  • With the original story being cut short, some of his jerkish moments like emotionally hurting Knives with their unexpected breakup are removed.

Series[]

  • In high school, Kim was kidnapped by a rival school, and Scott came to her rescue.
  • During his first fight with Matthew, instead fighting, he tries to reason with him.
  • After seeing how messed up his future self is, he asks what did they wrong in order to make things better.
  • He forms a genuine bond with Robot-01 and holds no grudge toward him despite being the one who kidnapped him and brought him to the future.
  • When Future Ramona felt bad about herself and states her plan failed, he reassures her by saying that despite everything, she managed to change her past self into a better person.
  • After returning to the future, one of his first acts is apologizing to Knives for cheating on her, which Knives forgives him for. He then ends their relationship by stating it was wrong for him to date her in the first place due to their inappropriate age gap.
  • During the fight with Older Scott, after seeing Ramona in distress, he wasted no time into helping her to defeat his future self.
  • While being beat down by his future self, he rejects the idea of becoming that kind of person, symbolizing his desire of becoming better and not letting his flaws define him.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • He still retains some jerkish moments and flaws from his original counterpart, like abandoning his relationship with Kim Pine out of nowhere and free-loading at Wallace's expense. However, his actions show he fully intends on changing his ways in order to avoid becoming like his future self, such as moving out of Wallace's place and moving in with Ramona, and being on good terms with Kim, making this a minor prevention.
  • He fails to meet the admirable standards of Ramona, who not only investigated his disappearance all on her own, but who also made amends with most of her exes and was ultimately the one to defeat Older Scott.
