This Near Pure Good was headlined on April 2024.

NOTE: This page is only about Scooby-Doo's mainstream incarnation. His Scoob! incarnation is also voted as Near Pure Good meaning he has a separate page found here.

Scooby-Dooby-Dooo!
~ Scooby's catchphrase

Scoobert Doobert "Scooby Dooby" Doo III, also known as Scooby-Doo, is the titular main protagonist of the popular Hanna-Barbera franchise of the same name.

He is the dog of Norville "Shaggy" Rogers, who helps both him and his friends Fred Jones, Daphne Blake, and Velma Dinkley solve mysteries across multiple cities, all involving supernatural beings, most of which are just people in disguises trying to scare local folk away for a lot of different reasons.

He is voiced by the late Don Messick (1969-1994), Scott Innes (1998-2020), and currently Frank Welker (2002–present).

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good[]

In General[]

  • Even though he is extremely cowardly like Shaggy and usually runs away from monsters with him, despite some of them being fake, this is somewhat understandable though and he never hesitates to help the gang or other people, including the Hex Girls, whenever they are in danger.
  • Although often scared at first, he nonetheless proves himself to be brave and never fails in helping the gang solve many mysteries, as well as getting multiple criminals disguised in Halloween costumes rightfully arrested to support their plans.
  • Even though he doesn't have any fighting skills, unlike Daphne on the other hand, this doesn't prevent him from effectively stopping the criminals pursued by him and the gang.
  • He and the gang team up with Batman several times to save either Coolsville or Gotham City from villains, primarily the Joker.

Scooby-Doo, Where Are You![]

  • In "A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts", he and Shaggy swung across a moat to save Daphne from Frankenstein's Monster, and he trapped Dracula when he tried to attack the gang.
  • In "That's Snow Ghost", he saved Velma from the Snow Ghost when he tried to saw her in half and saved Shaggy from drowning.
  • He saved Shaggy when he was captured by Mr. Hyde.
  • He protected a baby chick from the Creeper and returned it to its mother.

The New Scooby-Doo Movies[]

  • In "Ghastly Ghost Town", he and Shaggy used the Three Stooges' T. rex robot Tyrone to catch the Gunslinger and Geronimo in a bat-like vehicle.
  • In "The Dynamic Scooby-Doo Affair", he chased down the Joker and the Penguin disguised as skeletons, due to his love for bones.
  • In "The Ghost of the Red Baron", he and the gang helped the Three Stooges stop the Red Baron from fertilizing a farmer's crops.

What's New, Scooby-Doo?[]

  • He saved Shaggy when the Snow Creature chased him.
  • He protected the Secret Six puppies from danger and tackled the Cat Creature when it attacked them and their mother.
  • When the Invisible Madman knocked Fred unconscious, he chased him away and dragged Fred to safety.
  • Despite being scared of it, he and Shaggy ran up to a lighthouse to guide Fred, Daphne and Velma to safety, saving them from crashing into rocks.
  • He swam through icy water to save Little Pete from the Fish Creature.

Scooby-Doo and Guess Who?[]

  • In "The Scooby of a Thousand Faces!", he and Shaggy tried to cheer Fred up after they got rejected by Wonder Woman, who refused to teach them to fight against the Minotaur since they are men and Wonder Woman only trains women. He also prevented her from killing the Minotaur, despite his hatred of monsters.
  • In "What a Night, for a Dark Knight!", he and the gang helped Batman rescue his butler Alfred Pennyworth from the Man-Bat, who was actually the Joker in disguise, and also stopping him from stealing Batman's bank account.
  • In "I Put a Hex on You!", he and the gang helped Thorn and Luna with their personalities after they were brainwashed by the "haunted" guitar of Ester Moonkiller.
  • In "One Minute Mysteries!", he, Shaggy, and the Flash rescued Fred, Daphne, and Velma from being killed by the Trickster, who wanted to reveal the Flash's secret identity to the world while disguising himself as an evil giant teddy bear.

Direct-to-video films[]

  • He helped defeat and expose Lena Dupree, Simone Lenoir, and Jacques as cult-like serial killers, also allowing their victims to go on in peace.
  • He helped defeat the Phantom Virus, saving all of the gang in the final level, and discovered who was behind it.
  • He and Shaggy saved Japan from the Black Samurai.
  • He helped Courage the Cowardly Dog and his owners Muriel and Eustace Bagge to protect themselves from Katz and Le Quack.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • He has some mischievous moments, such as pranking Shaggy, stealing his food, or hanging out with him when they're supposed to be investigating.
  • Due to his and Shaggy's cowardice, they always back out of investigations and come up with pathetic excuses just to avoid getting into them, much to the gang's annoyance. However, as mentioned before, he never hesitates to help the gang whenever they are in danger, making this a minor prevention.
