Rei (also known as Reimon) is the main protagonist of the Tsuburaya produced Tokusatsu series Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle. He is a reionic who is capable of controlling/taming monsters. Having been born inside of Bullton during its attack on the city of Belargo on Planet Boris, he quickly grew into a adult and started taming monsters and fighting other monsters alongside with him, though in the process he lost his memories. However, upon being the ZAP SPACY crew, he eventually went on to join them as an official member and later regain his memories with the help of a young girl named Karen.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- As a result of him being able to control/tame/guide monsters and summon them into battles under his advisory, he is directly responsible for all the heroic deeds they did throughout the franchise. To name them all there’s:

- Gamora (and Grande’s Red King) defeating and destroying Alien Reiblood (while he was in Armored Darkness).
- Gamora defeating Zaragas.
- Gamora defeating Alien Shaplay’s Black King while Ultraman, Seven, and Mebius fought against Shaplay himself.
- Gamora and Litra assisting the Ultra brothers in fighting against Belial’s monster army.
- Gamora assisting ZAP and some of the other Ultras in blasting Belyuruda apart while Zero dealt the final blow to Belial.
- Gamora saving Rei and Hyuga from getting killed by Mechagamora.
- Gamora destroying some of the Salome aliens robot ultra brothers while in their base.
- Gamora defeating Mechagamora while Zero faught against Darkclops Zero.
- Gamora defeating a Leigonoid robot and preventing it from killing Princess Emerena.
- Gamora assisting 4 out of the 5 Ultimate Force Zero members in fighting against Beatstar’s robot army (containing King Joe’s and Imperializers) while Zero fought against Beatstar himself.
- Even though Dail tried to kill him in each of their battles, he still chose to spare him during almost of all of them. As a result of this, Dail would eventually to realize that Rei was on the side of good, rather than on the side of evil.
- In addition to this, it also led to Dail later siding with him and helping him free the ZAP spacy team (from the Pedanians’ force field prison) so that they could use the pedanium launcher (installed on the Pendragon) to destroy Harlan’s army of King Joe Blacks. Because of this, the ZAP SPACY crew was able to defeat Harlan and prevent her from enslaving Rei and using him to conquer Earth and other planets.
- Due to him and Gamora freeing Alien Mephilas from Alien Reiblood’s Control, he is indirectly responsible for Mephilas eventually redeeming himself (after realizing he was simply being used by Rayblood) by helping the rest of ZAP spacy escape from an inter dimensional rift, an act that ultimately allowed them to help Rei in his fight against Rayblood and later help him escape Planet Hammer.
- Due to him freeing Ultraman from the mountain Alien Rayblood imprisoned him on Planet Boris, Ultraman was ultimately able to escape and save Rei and the ZAP SPACY team from King Joe Black when it tried to stop them from leaving just as Boris was about to be destroyed by an artificial sun.
- Similarly, due to him and Gamora freeing Ultraseven from Armored Darkness, he is indirectly responsible for Seven helping Ultraman destroy Rayblood when his soul tried to pull him (Rei) and the ZAP crew back into Planet Hammer during NEO’s finale (thus ending the reionics war as a whole while also preventing himself from becoming Rayblood’s successor and conquering the cosmos as well as wiping out the pedan aliens in the future).
- Additionally, had Rei not freed them both, neither of them would have been able to continue saving the universe as Ultraman would have been stuck to the mountain Rayblood imprisoned him and Seven would have been stuck in Armored Darkness forever while being forced to carry out Rayblood’s evil will.
- During the beginning of his series, he initially started off as stand-offish, rude, and hostile, with him initially treating the ZAP team as of they were his enemies and him only caring about fighting monsters and becoming more powerful. Fortunately though, after giving the ZAP team a chance and actually spending an extended period of time with them, he eventually grew to care about them, even going so far as to call them family.
- Additionally, as a result of hanging out with them, he ultimately grew to respect his battleneizer Kaiju as well, with him later admitting to having conversations with them and him complementing them after every battle.
- Overall, because of the time he spent with them, he eventually went on to grow as a person and become a genuine compassionate hero, with him ultimately giving up on his original goal and instead choosing to use his powers to protect the cosmos.
- Additionally, as a result of hanging out with them, he ultimately grew to respect his battleneizer Kaiju as well, with him later admitting to having conversations with them and him complementing them after every battle.
- While he did have his Kaiju kill other Kaiju and reionics, it was usually out of necessity in order to protect the ZAP spacy team from getting killed (and in the case of Alien Reiblood, Belial, and Belial’s monster army, it was to protect the universe).
- Despite this though, he did occasionally spare his opponents such as Eleking, Grande, and Grande’s Red King, all of whom eventually became his allies as a result of this.
- On paper, his actions as Burst mode Rei (battling every reionic user and their monster to the death, attacking and trying to kill his allies, severely wounding Seven) would normally be seen as mitigating. However, in context, they really aren’t. For one, when in this state, he has no control over his actions whatsoever, as by this point, he is essentially a mindless (rage fueled) bloodthirsty brute who is at the mercy of his own reionic instincts (instincts that naturally encourage him to want to fight and kill any potential opponent in his path (even if they’re his friends)). Not helping much is the fact is that he repeatedly shows remorse for these acts, time and time again upon being snapped out of it. In fact, even when he was in this state, he would subconsciously express shock and horror at what he was doing, even shedding a tear at one point when he was trying to resist killing Haruna.
- At first glance, it seems like Rei is being abusive by capturing monsters against their will and forcing them to fight. However, this isn’t true as it’s eventually revealed midway through his debut series that they had allowed him to contain them to begin with. Furthermore, in in NEO, his monsters are shown to be completely loyal to him, with Eleking in particular performing a self-sacrifice during his battle against Grande’s Tyrant, specifically by disconnecting his link with Rei before Tyrant could finish him off (for context: had eleking not severed his link, Rei would have died alongside him due to reionic users naturally sharing a life force with their Kaiju).
Ultra Galaxy: Mega Monster Battle[]
- While talking to Koichi Oki about his battleneizer, he briefly allowed him to look at his battleniezer after he asked if he could see it. [Episode 4]
- When Kate tried to frame him for the destruction of ZAP’s base on Belargo city, he briefly tried to prove his innocence. However, when she threatened to harm the other members of the lives, he quickly kept his mouth shut in order to keep them safe. [Episode 5]
- Upon hearing Oki (and by proxy, the other members of ZAP), apologize to him for having doubted his innocence/having disappointed him he immediately reassured him that this wasn’t the case and that things were gonna change (basically the relationships between him and the rest of the ZAP were gonna become more positive). [Episode 6]
- While rummaging through the remains of ZAP’s base on Belargo city) he briefly took the time to apologize to Haurna after he previously disobeyed a order from her during his flight test. [Episode 7]
- As the ZAP SPACY team were crashing their ship underwater, he briefly helped Haruna stop it before it was about to fall off a cliff. [Episode 9]
- After defeating Zoa Muruchi with the use of Eleking, he later managed to use him again to successfully repair ZAP’s ship engine, thus helping them get back to the surface before they could run out of oxygen. [Episode 9]
- Upon meeting Karen Mikura in person on Vincent Island, he immediately gave her back her pendant containing a picture of both she and her dad after discovering it while on Belargo city. [Episode 11]
- Despite Karen eventually admitting to him that she had known where Ultraman’s whereabouts were the whole time he was with her, he easily forgave her as he knew she was nervous and didn’t want to bother anyone. Furthermore, when she started apologizing for it, he reassured that she had nothing to feel sorry about as by that point, she had already helped him regain his memories. [Episode 11]
- Before going in to battle against Kate’s Zetton, he encouraged Captain Hyuga to leave him behind to die (while Boris was gonna turn into a sun) in case he didn’t come back. [Episode 12]
- During the final battle against Kate’s Zetton and the Pedan aliens’ King Joe Black, he managed to successfully unlock his true form called Reimon (all while unlocking Gamora’ EX form in the process).
- Additionally, after unlocking his true form, he later went on to free Ultraman from a mountain (which Alien Reiblood/Rayblood imprisoned him) with his Reimium Reviving Ray, something that would later pay off in the end when he stopped King Joe Black from killing them him and the rest of the ZAP team as they were about to leave Planet Boris (which at the time was about to be destroyed by its artificial sun).
Ultra Galaxy: Never Ending Odyssey[]
- Upon seeing Hyuga dangling off the bridge they were on after it exploded, he immediately jumped across the other side in order to save him. Because of this, they were able to escape the ZAP space station (as it blowing up) and later reunite with the other members while on Planet Hammer.
- Upon coming to the conclusion that he was (somehow) responsible for bringing Hyuga and the rest of the ZAP SPACY crew into the reionic conflict, he immediately started apologizing to Hyuga during the start of episode 3, despite the fact it wasn’t his fault.
- Additionally, while assisting Captain Hyuga in fixing the Gostardragon, he admitted to being scared of loosing the bonds he had created with him and the rest of the ZAP crew as he had grown to actually care about them and genuinely consider them family (for context: After unlocking his Reimon form on Planet Boris and later crash landing on Planet Hamer, he immediately started becoming more violent and aggressive upon encountering new reionics, with him briefly beating up Alien Hook and him becoming more eager to fight against Monsters, even going so far as to lash out at Hyuga when he helped him stop Dorako).
- Upon realizing that his burst mode self was enjoying his and Gamora’s fight Alien Metron and Doragory, he briefly expressed shock and horror (albeit subconsciously). [Episode 4]
- As his burst mode self was ruthlessly beating up on Alien Metron, he subconsciously begged himself to stop (which he fortunately did after the sounds of other monsters got his attention). [Episode 4]
- After spending the majority of episodes 3-4 going on a mindless rage fueled battle/killing spree against other Reionic users’ (and their monsters) and attempting kill Captain Hyuga while in Burst Mode, he (briefly) spent the following episode trying to isolate himself so that he could avoid potentially hurting someone. (By this point, Seven’s eye slugger had temporarily snapped him out of his burst mode).
- While trying to stop himself from killing Haruna, he briefly shed a tear before letting Hyuga throw Seven’s Eyeslugger at him. [Episode 5]
- Upon being hit with Seven’s eye slugger by Captain Hyuga (while also being freed from his Burst mode form/state) and noticing that he had gained a scar from it, he immediately went on to reassure Hyuga that he was okay, (even going so far as to quote a statement Hyuga had told him earlier about scars being considered medals for spacemen). [Episode 5]
- When asked by Grande why he chose to spare him and Red King, he replied by saying he didn’t want to continue spilling more blood for the sake of Alien Reiblood. Because of this act, Grande would ultimately grow to respect him and later join him in the battle against Reiblood during the series finale. [Episode 12]
- Upon being offered by Reiblood the chance to become his successor (as well as and take over the cosmos), he immediately rejected it, rightfully pointing out how the numerous lives that were cost as a result of the constant battles he (Rayblood) had instigated.
Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy Legends The Movie[]
- Upon being offered by Mebius the chance to help him, Seven, and Ultraman stop Belial from laying waste to other worlds, immediately accepted it, claiming it wasn’t just to protect his friends (ZAP) but also to protect the universe.
- When Belial offered him the chance to rule alongside him, he rejected it (similar in fashion to what he said to Reiblood when he offered it as well).
- In the climax, he helped Zero defeat Belial/Belyuruda (specifically by using his battleneizer on the Giga battleneizer and having the monsters that made up Belyuruda fight each other, this way Zero, ZAP SPACY, Gamora, and the other Ultras would be able to attack and finish him off).
- As a result, Zero was able to return the Plasma spark back to land of light and unfreeze it, thus saving the billions of Ultras that were there from dying alongside the planet itself.
Ultra Galaxy Legend Gaiden: Ultraman Zero Vs. Darkclops Zero[]
Stage 1: Cosmic Collision[]
- While Zero fought off against Mechagamora, he briefly summoned Litra in order to try and attack the Salome Aliens base.
Stage 2: Zero’s Suicide Zone[]
- Upon encountering a version of himself from another universe who was in his burst mode, he managed to snap him out of it by punching him in the stomach (similar to what Hyuga did to him while they were at the monster graveyard). As a result, the alternate Rei was able to revert back to his reimon form.
- While wondering through the halls of the Salome Alien’s base, he briefly took the time to show Alternate Rei the scar he received from Seven’s eye slugger that helped remove his reionic instinct to fight.
- Additionally, when asked what the wound was, he replied by saying it was a sign of friendship between him and the ZAP SPACY and how as long he had it, he would never turn into a “reiblood” again (IOW, his scar prevents him going berserk and turning into burst mode).
- Upon realizing that the Salome aliens were planning on conquering the multiverse using their robotic imitation of the Ultra brothers, he made it his mission (alongside Alternate Rei and Hyuga) to stop them.
- Additionally, he also made it his mission to stop them from inadvertently destroying the multiverse as well as their experiments with the core dimension had caused their solar system to become a pocket universe that connected to others and nearly threaten those universes into collapsing into one another.
- Despite doing it unintentionally, he ultimately helped free Alternate Rei from Alien Rayblood, specifically by passing his own memories onto him as well as the scar he received while they were holding the Battelneizer to help Gamora defeat Mechagamora.
- While Alternate Rei was disappearing from existence, he briefly held his hand under his request out of respect.
- Upon wakening after Zero saved him and Hyuga from dying in the explosion Darkclops detonated on Planet Cheney, he quickly started pondering whether or not Zero had made it out alive.
Ultraman Zero Gaiden: Killer the Beatstar[]
Stage 1[]
- Upon encountering Princess Emerena and a Leigonoid and realizing that the former was in danger, he and Hyuga chose to land the pendragon in order to save her.
Stage 2[]
- During Zero, Glenfire, and Mirror Knight’s battle against Jean-Bot and Jean-Nine, he temporarily summoned Litra to help them while Gamora recovered from his previous fight.
- While him, Emerena, and Hyuga were fixing up things in Jean-Bots head (after he managed to break free of Beatstar’s control), he briefly expressed sympathy for Emerena for what she and Jean-Bot were going through, bringing up how he went through a similar thing when he was struggling with his reionic instincts but that he was able to break free from them with the help of his friends (ZAP).
- Before being talked out of it by Hyuga, he briefly tried to stop Princess Emerena when she started talking to Jean Killer as he was blasting at Zero, Jean-Borg, Mirror Knight, and Glenfire.
- Before the climax, he and Hyuga managed to help Princess Emerena and the Ultimate Force Zero teach Jean killer the concept of friendship, life, and having a heart/soul (in particular he emphasized the importance of friends sticking together and how it could help anyone overcome anything). As a result of this, Jean killer went on to redeem himself and eventually help Zero defeat his master Beatstar who was gonna wipe out all life in the universe.
- Additionally, as a result of teaching him those concepts, he (and the others) also inspired Jean Killer’s decision to join the Ultimate force Zero as Jean Nine, thus making him indirectly/partially responsible for all the heroic things he did onwards.
- During the final battle against Beatstar’s robot army, he briefly the took the time to introduce Jean-Nine to Gamora in order to show him that monsters were his friends too.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He can be mischievous (or more accurately trollish) as shown by the ending of Killer the Beatstar stage 2 where he goes against Hyuga’s wishes and flies the Pendragon to Planet Boram at full speed while laughing and completely ignoring Hyuga’s screams in terror, despite the fact that Hyuga had adamantly (and fearfully) demanded/begged him not to do so. This is relatively minor though, since the scene is played for comedy.
