Red is the main protagonist of Sony Pictures’ Angry Birds movie series.
He was an outcast from Bird Island who suffered from anger issues and abuse in his childhood, but ended up becoming protector of the island by stopping Green Pigs from eating their eggs, and later, both Bird and Pig Islands by shutting down Zeta’s ice ball cannon, ultimately establishing peace between birds, pigs and eagles, while finally become part of society.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General/Background[]
- Even though he acted like a massive jerk in the first film to the point of showing misanthropic behaviour such as being disrespectful towards everyone alike and being willing to beat them at the slightest provocation, he has a very tragic past, since being abandoned by his own parents and being mocked by other peers, which neglected on his view on life. He even admitted that he just wanted to be part of society, by the second film his jerkish behaviour was downplayed and he also subverted his misanthropy.
The Angry Birds Movie[]
- After arrival of Leonard, he tried to warn birds about Leonard’s skeptical behaviour and went to Mighty Eagle for his help.
- Forgave the other birds for refusing to listen to his warning and led them into attacking Pig Island.
- Saved hundreds of eggs from being boiled up by Leonard, nearly dying in the process. He most heroic act was finally obtaining control over his anger and saving unhatched Blues from Leonard, while also destroying Pig City, ending Green Pig’s assault.
- Happily became part of bird society and even crying when hatchlings sang to him.
The Angry Birds Movie 2[]
- Protected Bird Island from Leonard’s painful pranks.
- Agreed to end his feud with Leonard to stop iceball cannon, and was never seen attempting to backstab him.
- Apologized to Silver for acting too egotistical from his insecurities.
- With Silver tried to destroy Zeta’s iceball cannon, once again nearly dying.
- His actions helped establish friendships between three islands.
- He gives credit to all of his friends for saving the island, even when thinking everyone would lose respect for him. This had the opposite effect, however, as everyone appreciates him even more now.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He can be stubborn, reckless and somewhat self-centered, like when he refused to believe in the truce at first and tried to shut down the machine alone, endangering himself and Silver during the mission and even Zeta herself told him they had time to evacuate the islands to avoid deaths from the lava balls.
- Even worse when out of carelessness he indirectly endangered both islands when he told everyone to not worry about evacuating out of pride that he could have saved them alone.
- He still acts like a jerk towards both his own allies and enemies alike, even when they're being nice or haven't done anything to annoy him.
- Though understandable, he acted somewhat violent towards the citizens of Bird Island with some notable examples including kicking a hatchling simply for kicking his ball on the wall, hitting mime for standing by him, hitting a doctor, making rude comments on his way of anger managment classes, being mean to his friends, etc. While he and the citizens are in good terms he never properly apologized for acting disrespectful towards them.
- Although he's currently in good terms with Silver, he spent most of the second film ditching and belittling her out of spite for their first encounter despite her attempts to get along with him.
- He was not above telling Gary's inventions were useless or even barely functional for the mission, something Silver calls him off for looking down at them.
- When he gave credit to the team for saving both islands he quickly belittled Leonard in front of everyone stating they could have done it without him even though he was the one who gave them access to the resources needed for the mission.
Trivia[]
- Though he is currently Near Pure Good, this could change with the upcoming third Angry Birds Movie if he either sheds his corrupting factors or gains more.
- Red, along with Chuck, is one of the two characters from The Angry Bird Movies to be Near Pure Good.
