Professor Utonium is the deuteragonist of The Powerpuff Girls franchise. He is the father/creator of the titular main protagonists of The Powerpuff Girls, a smart scientist, who often acts as their voice of reason, or, depending on the episode, the damsel they need to save.
He was voiced by retired voice actor Tom Kane.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- While when he was a child, he was very similar to Mitch Mitchelson, that is, a bratty bully who didn't want to take responsibility for things, all of that in the end is subverted once when he is saved by his future daughters/creations, The Powerpuff Girls.
- His initial motivation for creating the girls was to provide some hope to the crime-ridden Townsville.
- Has helped the girls defeat villains they couldn't beat on their own.
- Was willing to be Dick Hardly's slave for the rest of his life to save the girls.
- Is the reason the girls are superheroes in the first place, training them and providing tech support when necessary.
- When he found out that the girls used him to shoplift, he showed no anger towards them.
- Encouraged the girls to join the AWSM, them comforted them when the association turned out to be sexist and ageist, and convinced the girls to save them when they were in danger, telling them that the "heroes" being mean to them doesn't give them the right to abandon them when they're helpless.
- Created a powered super-suit so that he could spend more time with the girls.
- Is nice to insects.
- Created the Powerpuff Dynamo to protect the girls after he saw them take damage fighting a monster.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- He is somewhat a control freak as he shows signs of being too worried for the girls and keeping them safe to the point (or even keeping them on their bedtime because of school) where he end up indirectly destroying Townsville and refuse to do something about it even if he showed remorse for it.
- He can be arrogant and reckless at times, such as forcing the girls to use Dynamo and indirectly destroying the city, although he felt remorse for this, he does not seem to completely subvert it, since he did not destroy Dynamo.
- When he created The Powerpuff Girls, Mojo jojo was so close to the explosion that he suffered from side effects where he got superhuman intelligence to the point where his brain broke through his skull, but no matter how smart Mojo was, the professor was always focused on his daughters and their superpowers, so Mojo was depleted of the love he used to get from the Professor, that now the Professor gives only to the girls, so to some extent he is the reason Mojo jojo turn into a supervillain.
Trivia[]
- He is the only Near Pure Good from The Powerpuff Girls to be a male.
- Although he is Near Pure Good, his voice actor, Tom Kane, played HIM from the same show, who is Near Pure Evil.
- His 2016 reboot counterpart doesn't count as NPG, due that version is too incompetent to quality, and like his 2016 girls, he is too selfish, and jerky.
