Princess Luna is a major character in My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
She is the younger sister of Princess Celestia and is Equestria's former co-ruler. In the first two episodes of season one, she was the main antagonist, Nightmare Moon, who threatened to create an eternal night. Later, she was purged by the Elements of Harmony and was offered a chance to rule again with her sister - to which she accepted. Princess Luna now enters the dreams of her subjects, mostly children, to assist them in defeating their nightmares.
She was voiced by Tabitha St. Germain, who also did Rarity. In the Korean version, Jeong Yoo-mi initially did her, who also does Ryuko in Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Before the events of the series, she defeated several villains like Discord, Tirek and King Sombra with her sister Celestia.
- She feels deeply remorseful over her actions as Nightmare Moon (to the point that she created Tantabus as a way of punishing herself for her past actions) and has redeemed herself because of it.
- Reconciled with Princess Celestia and apologizes to her.
- Having fun with every pony on Nightmare Night and winning back their love and appreciation.
- Allowing Nightmare Night to continue while being there to "scare" ponies every year and have fun.
- Spending all night on guarding duty so she could see if Canterlot was in danger.
- Comforted Scootaloo in her nightmares and helping her get over her fear of Rainbow Dash becoming her sister figure.
- She made Sweetie Belle realise that Rarity tried her best to help her despite her having problems with her work, she also helped fix Rarity's dress when the Cutie Mark Crussaders went to Canterlot to fix Rarity's dress.
- Helping fix Ponnyville after being messed up by Rarity along with Twilight and Princess Cadance.
- Comforted the Cutie Mark Crusaders in their nightmares and helping them get through their fear of gaining their cutie marks.
- Comforted Twilight Sparkle from doubting about her role as the Princess of Friendship by singing a song alongside Celestia and Cadance.
- Transferring her magic to Twilight Sparkle for safekeeping alongside with Celestia and Cadence.
- She saved Fluttershy from Tantabus' monster in her dream.
- Defeated Tantabus by letting go of her past actions.
- Reassembled the Crystal Heart with the help of Twilight, Celestia, Starlight, Sunburst, Cadance, and Shining Armor. Thus, ending the eternal winter and saving the Crystal Empire in the process.
- Comforted Starlight in her nightmares of Our Town residents.
- Warned Starlight about the changelings' attack in Canterlot.
- Reconciled with Princess Celestia by respecting each other's duties.
- She and Celestia defeated Nightmare Moon and Daybreaker by reconciling with each other.
- Preventing Cozy Glow from escaping alongside Celestia and Neighsay.
- Punished Cozy Glow by imprisoning her at Tartarus for her treachery and crimes, with Tirek.
- Let the Mane Six confront King Sombra by holding off uncontrollable vines from the Everfree Forest.
- Sabotaging the Sibling Supreme contest with Spike to teach Celestia a lesson.
- Reconciled with Celestia after falling-out during their vacation.
- Helped the Mane Six to fix the damage that the villains caused on Summer Sun Celebration.
- Punished Chrysalis, Tirek, and Cozy Glow by turning them into stone to end their reign of terror on all of Equestria alongside Celestia and Discord. Although Cozy was still a child, she still saw her as a threat and was doing it to make sure she never harmed anyone ever again.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- Along with her sister, she is merciless towards Queen Chrysalis, Cozy Glow, and Tirek, as while she did turn them to stone because they were a threat, she had little to no issue doing it. Plus, she could have simply sent them to Tartarus rather than turn them to stone.
- Although they did escape the first time that they were caged up, that was only because “Grogar” (actually Discord in disguise), purposely freed them.
Trivia[]
- Princess Luna is an interesting case of a Near Pure Good as she had the potential to be approved as Pure Good all the way up until the end of the show because she did something at the end which was just a bit too preventing, while other Near Pure Goods have other similar small preventing moments, hers was at a point where she couldn't really do anything about it such as feel remorse or try to make up for it.
- However, given that this was overlooked long after the show had ended, and Celestia (who doesn't qualify for this trivia due to having one other prevention) and Luna were approved as Pure Good for the longest time, this prevention was realized and it was discussed and she was demoted to Near Pure Good, making her an interesting case of a Near Pure Good who not only had a prevention near the end of the show, but had had this prevention overlooked for years before it was finally discussed and had her Near Pure Good status restored.
