Prince Vladimir

Prince Vladimir is the titular main protagonist of the 2006 animated Russian movie Prince Vladimir. Prince of Novgorod, son of Svyatoslav and brother of Yaropolk and Oleg.

He was voiced by Sergey Bezrukov.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

  • Although in the beginning he was shown to be a very cruel man who robbed cities and killed innocent residents, including women, later he lost these qualities and was cleansed of his mortal sins.
  • He ordered to send a pipe to the Byzantine Princess Anna as a gift, so that he could marry her later.
  • He did not believe in the betrayal of his brother Yaropolk, and still loved him, even despite their strained relationship. And after providing the proof, he reluctantly decided to strike him first.
  • He forbade the evil priest to touch the boy Aleksha, saying that he had nothing to do with it.
  • He believed Yaropolk's words that he was not a traitor, and after Yaropolk was killed by Krivzha, he felt heavy remorse for believing in his betrayal, and that Yaropolk died because of it.
  • He ordered all the Slavic tribes to come together to unite them with one religion, and after Krivzha gave fire only to the idol of Perun, he was disgusted by the actions of the evil priest.
  • He saved the boy Aleksha from a wild bison, taking its heavy blow on himself.
  • He stunned Krivzha with a fiery torch, thereby avenging him for the murder of Yaropolk and Oleg, as well as saving Aleksha and Boyan from him.
  • He challenged the Pecheneg Khan Kurya to a fair fight, in which he defeated him, and thereby prevented his plan to capture and destroy the whole of Russia.
  • Eventually, he was cleansed of his mortal sins, became like a father to Aleksha, and married Princess Anna.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • He tried to kill Krivzha for bringing him the news of Yaropolk's betrayal, but he was stopped by Varyag and Dobrynya.
  • He behaved like an arrogant jerk, aggressively hunting a boar and stunning Dobrynya when he was about to stop him.
