| ~ Lyrics to Perry the Platypus' theme song. |
Perry the Platypus, codenamed Agent P, is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Candace Flynn) of the Disney Channel animated series Phineas and Ferb.
He is the pet platypus of the Flynn-Fletcher family, but is also secretly a high ranking and specialized agent of the O.W.C.A., and his main mission is protecting the Tri-State Area from Dr. Heinz Doofenshmirtz, an evil scientist, though very affable and friendly deep down, who always tries to conquer or spread mayhem across the Tri-State area in a daily basis.
He was voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Near Pure Good?[]
- He has a clear moral agency and intelligence, despite being a platypus. Him acting brainless around his family and their friends is simply a cover up.
- As an O.W.C.A agent, he protects the Tri-State area from evil (usually from Doofenshmirtz), while pretending to be a simple pet. Sometimes, he does heroic actions outside of Tri-State area and even occasionally does that outside his own dimension.
- Despite him being the pet of Phineas and Ferb being a façade, he truly loves them, and tries to protect the family and ensure he is always with them.
- Though he fights Doofenshmirtz, he cares for him, and knows he's not truly evil on the inside, simply trying to prevent him from causing the chaos he desires. Even when they were enemies, Perry sympathized with Doof's stories of his rough childhood and awful parents.
- He prevented Doof from conquering the Tri-State area countless times.
- He also stops him causing bad things to happen, such as Doof trying to reverse the rotation of Earth, him carelessly endangering the universe with his Accelerate-inator and other -inators.
- He helped Doof throw a birthday party for his daughter, despite them being supposed to be enemies.
- He never uses venom spurs on his ankles despite potential advantages such dangerous quirk of his provides against his enemies and apparently ensures Flynn-Fletchers — Phineas and Ferb in particular — never injure themselves with them by mistake as confirmed in "Primal Perry". This surprises Doof who oblivious about it.
- He busts his cover to protect Phineas and Ferb from Perry the Platyborg.
- Despite Phineas being extremely angry with him, he tried to explain (though he couldn't talk) why he couldn't reveal to them that he was a secret agent.
- He, along with Phineas, Ferb and others, stopped 2nd Dimension Heinz Doofenshmirtz from taking over their dimension.
- He agreed to let the Flynns and others have their memories wiped out so he wouldn't have to look for another covered family and be separated from them.
- He was the only O.W.C.A agent who didn't join in the brawl against L.O.V.E. M.U.F.F.I.N. at the graduation ceremony.
- He saved Roger Doofenshmirtz (despite the latter grew to be no different than Heinz).
- Saved Doof from falling to his death.
- In the "O.W.C.A Files" episode he wrote down where Doof and his team to meet him to take down Parenthesis.
- Went to Candace's rescue when she was taken away by aliens.
- Helped Milo Murphy defeat Derek.
- Helped power Doof's Time Machine to assist Milo Murphy.
- When Doof redeems himself, Perry tries to be there for him to ensure that he goes down the right path. This eventually culminates in him becoming Professor Time.
- He teams up with various agents from time to time (even human agents).
- He thanks Stacy Hirano for not exposing his secret to Flynn-Fletcher family and eventually accepts her as an offical secret agent as of Season 5.
- Despite being usually focused more in his screen time in B plot than A plot, Perry more than often fights to save the day than Phineas and the rest of Summer Vacation Gang thus more heroic than either of them. This helps by the stakes of such battles are greater because not only some of Doofenshmirtz's inventions can seriously injure, if not outright kill people, but also he faces villains who capable to do much worse such as Doofenshmirtz's acquaintances from L.O.V.E. M.U.F.F.I.N. (especially Aloyse von Roddenstein) and 2nd Dimension Doofenshmirtz.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- In the "O.W.C.A Files" episode, he appears to be pretty arrogant towards some of his partners or allies, specially Doof, sometimes even acting jerkishly. Although this may because they were not very good at doing their mission and he was adjusting to not being a lone wolf, making this a minor prevention.
- While it is justified to protect her from potential danger, he helped Doofenshmirtz in an attempt to scare Vanessa during her camp trip with her friends, so she would go home.
Trivia[]
- He, along with Phineas and Ferb, is one of the three canon Near Pure Goods in Phineas and Ferb.
- Since Phineas and Ferb is now renewed for a Season 5 and 6, it could be possible that he might become Pure Good.
