“ | It's not a shell. There's so much life, living here. That's what I'm doing! I'm living here! I've been learning new things about myself all the time! Like how I can make metal do my bidding! The point being: Earth can set you free. | „ |

~ Peridot's redemption as she stand up to Yellow Diamond - her most famous quote. |
Peridot, (specifically, Peridot Facet-2F5L Cut-5XG), is a major character in the Steven Universe franchise.
She is an Era 2 Homeworld Gem who was assigned to go to Earth by her superiors. There, she became stuck in Earth after confrontations with the Crystal Gems, a group of Gems created by the late Rose Quartz to protect Earth from Homeworld and the Gem Empire. Despite hating them, she slowly starts to admire Earth for its amount of life and diversity, and when she was denied a chance of saving the planet by her superior, Yellow Diamond, she committed treason by standing up to her, becoming officially a honorary Crystal Gem.
Afterwards, she starts living in the Barn, developing a friendship with the Crystal Gems and, mainly, with another "new" Crystal Gem, Lapis Lazuli. She would help the cast battle against White Diamond and her totalitarian empire, and when it is eventually gone, build a place in Earth where Homeworld's gems can learn what to do now that they're free, a place called "Little Homeworld".
She was voiced by Shelby Rabara.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite the series's admirable standards, Peridot stands out for helping save the Earth from the Cluster, as well as helping Smoky Quartz defeat Jasper and stop her plan to weaponize the corrupted gems, especially considering she has limited resources and screentime compared to the most admirable characters.
- After being with the Crystal Gems for some time, she eventually, with Steven's help, decided to tell them about the Cluster's threat.
- She started building a drilling machine so they can go to the center of Earth and stop the Cluster.
- After some convincing, she apologized and admitted Pearl is a good technician and not a "common Pearl", agreeing to work with her.
- She tried to communicate with Yellow Diamond, not to contact the Homeworld Gems, as Steven and the others thought, but to make her give up the plans of destroying Earth, though to no avail.
- She and Steven went to the Center of Earth to stop the Cluster while the Crystal Gems were occupied in Mask Island, to prevent its emergence and the destruction of Earth
- At first, she tries to destroy the cluster to end its menace, though it ends up failing as it was already forming, with Steven coming up with the idea (after talking to the aching shattered gems in the cluster) to bubble it, saving Earth
- Tries constantly to make friendship with Lapis, initially because she wanted to be in the Barn, but over the course of the episode it is clearly obvious she actually wants to be friends with Lapis.
- Offered herself to the Rubies when they started fighting against the Crystal Gems, thinking they were after her, which they weren't.
- Aids Smoky Quartz in her battle against Jasper, eventually delivering the final blow when she fused with a corrupted Gem, by stabbing her with a metal piece.
- She fought and captured a corrupted gem known as Tongue Monster, poofing it and bubbling it, but not before apologizing for her arrogant behaviour and admitting that it was an adversary worth of her.
- She makes sure the Roaming Eye is working so it'll be able to save Greg, while agreeing to defend Beach City while Lapis and the others are gone.
- Despite getting angry for the "new crystal gems" not playing their roles correctly, she eventually came to realize, through Connie's speech, that they didn't need to pretend be who they weren't to be team.
- She, Bismuth and Lapis arrive in Homeworld just in time to help Steven, Connie and the Crystal Gems fight the Diamond Authority.
- Helps Steven uncorrupt corrupted gems in the finale.
- Cheers Steven up along with Bismuth and Lapis in the movie.
- Tries to help remove Spinel's injector form Earth's crust.
- She stops trying to get Steven to dream the end of their favorite series into the TV after seeing how bad he is mentally, apologizing for not realizing it before and calling herself a clod.
- Helps uncorrupt Monster Steven by reminding how he helped her change to be a better person.
- Tearfully bid farewell to Steven along with Bismuth and Lapis.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She can be arrogant, morose and self-absorbed, often underestimating or looking down on other gems (which has led to her making rash decisions and foil up some of her plans), though this behavior has become much rarer after her redemption.
- She has recurring moments of being a minor jerk, such as throwing a rose into Mr. Fryman’s face in Garnet's wedding, or attempting to attack Steven's uncle alongside Lapis just because he wanted them out of the barn, and almost never apologizing to them, though these are less common as of Future.
- She acted cruel to Connie, Lapis, and Pumpkin in "The New Crystal Gems" and blamed all the trouble on them despite the fact it was also her fault that the car wash sign and Yellowtail’s car were destroyed.
