Pearl is one of the main protagonists of the Steven Universe franchise.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- Even though she was overly jealous of Greg and Rose's relationship due to her own feelings for her, as the series develops she beigns to move on and abandon this trait, accepting Rose's choices and moving on while also making amends with Greg and becoming good friends with him.
- She cares deeply for Steven despite her initial views on his birth and acts like a mother figure towards him, even more than the other gems as shown in Steven's dream in "Chille Tid" he also views her as a mother figure.
- Despite being initially distant from humanity and it's culture, by the time of Future, she has become more involved with humans and accepting of their customs and curious to learn more. She is even seen eating in the final episode despite hating doing so.
- She lied to Garnet and kept rebuilding the Communication Hub so that she could feel strong by forming Sardonyx, however she shows remorse for this and later apologizes to Garnet and makes amends with her. By the time of the movie, she is shown to be much more independent and no longer doubts her own strength, having subverted this trait and developed throughout the franchise.
- Even though the admirable standard is very high, Pearl stands out for a fair share of reasons.
- She was the one who took Pink/Rose to Earth in the first place and helped her see and understand what they were doing was wrong, being the first one to join the Crystal Gems and begin the rebellion.
- She built the drill that allowed Steven and Peridot to go down to the Cluster where Steven helped the millions of gems that made it up find peace and prevent it from emerging, making her partly responsible for keeping all of Earth safe.
- She kept the Diamonds from invading Earth sooner, by convincing Holly Blue to not inform them of their presence at the Zoo.
Pre-Series[]
- She suggested that Pink could shapeshift into a Rose Quartz soldier so that she could go down to Earth and greet the emerging Gems.
- She founded the Crystal Gems with Rose in order to fight for the freedom of Earth against the Diamonds when it became evident that they wouldn't listen to Pink's pleas.
- She and Rose attacked Blue Diamond's court when she came down to Earth to stop the growing rebellion.
- She fought against Homeworld for several centuries, even getting poofed several times while trying to keep Rose safe.
- Even though she was hesitant, she helped Rose fake Pink Diamond's shattering so that they could force the Diamonds offworld.
- Unlike Rose who never looked back and didn't face the consequences of this actions, Pearl wondered if the plan was worth it or if there was another way and even tried to tell the other Crystal Gems, only being prevented by Rose's last command.
- She kept protecting Earth for several. centuries after, by hunting down corrupted gems and bubbling them while also searching for a possible cure.
- She warned Buddy Budwick of several dangerous places that he shouldn't visit and even made a map of these for him (though he did the exact opposite).
- Overtime after Rose's death, she grew to accept Steven as his own being separate from Rose and raised him alongside the other Gems, acting as a surrogate mother to him while also trying to move on from Rose's death.
Season 1[]

- She fought against the corrupted Nephrite centipeetles and helped Steven try to summon his weapon for a second time.
- She and the others try to destroy the Red Eye before Steven and Greg return with the Laser Cannon.
- She tries to restore the Sea Spire with the Moon Godess statue and motivates Steven's ideas throughout the mision, comforting him after the Spire colapsed.
- She tries to get Steven out of the temple before he hurts himself and later helps fight the Smoke Monster.
- She keeps a group of shards that can make objects gain sentience safe and helps Steven get one back after he put it in the Frybo costume.
- She tries to teach Steven how to shapeshift and tries to go back to help him when he started having a problem with his cat fingers.
- She fought and bubbled other corrupted Gems like the Sand Gem and the Gem Cave Creature.
- She works together with Steven and Amethyst (in spite of their mutual animosity) to retrieve the Heaven Beetle and puts aside her differences with Amethyst to form Opal and save Steven from the Bird Gem.
- She tries to help Steven feel young again when he started aging rapidly due to his mindset.
- She put up police tape around Rose's moss so that humans wouldn't venture into Dead Man's Mouth and get injured or killed.
- She teaches Steven how to sworfight with a demonstration with a Holo-Pearl, and got poofed while trying to teach him.
- She agrees to Steven's idea of a beach day with the Pizzas to make amends regarding the damage Garnet did to their restaurant, and later fights the pufferfish gem when it came back.
- After Steven locks himself in Rose's room, he tries to get him out knowing how dangerous it could be.
- She takes Steven home after he was accidentally injured by Sugillite and later fought and defeated the unstable fusion all on her won, saving Steven, Greg, Lars, and Sadie.
- She and the others went to the Sea Shrine to retrieve the Hourglass.
- She and Garnet unclogged Rose's fountain which saved Amethyst's life by healing her cracked gem. She also put up a fence in the cliffside so similar accidents wouldn't happen.
- She gave Lapis to Steven so that he could learn about Gem History.
- She and the others went to stop Lapis and convince her to give back the ocean, fighting her water duplicate in the process.

- She fixes Greg's van after it sustained damage in the battle with Lapis. It's also implied she's fixed his van several times before.
- She apologizes to Steven for her uncontrolled actions in trying to forcibly take him to space.
- She clears up Steven's fear by explaining that all the "weirdness" that Ronaldo told him about is just from past misions.
- She agrees to fuse into Alexandrite so that she can go to dinner with Steven and Connie's parents to preserve their friendship.
- She tries to fight off the Watermelon Stevens when they start attacking people.
- She gets Steven out of Lion's mane when he was having trouble breathing.
- She tries to teach Steven how to fuse, which would later lead into Stevonnie.
- She and the others make a test for Steven to boost his morale.
- She goes to the Kindergarden to stop Amethyst from focibly revealing all about her origins and the kindergardens to Steven when he wasn't ready and tries to refrain from fighting her when she starts attacking.
- She comforts Amethyst after their fight and assures her that she doesn't see her as one with the kindergarden.
- She fights and destroys Peridot's robonoids.
- She takes Steven to Rose's armory to give him her sword, not knowing Steven had already been there and already had the sword (which was actually in Lion's mane).
- She builds a device that could use an ionized blast to knock out all of Peridot's robonoids, though it backfired and caused a blackout.
- She and the others send Steven with the other evacuating humans to protect him from Jasper and Peridot's impending invasion.
- She fuses into Opal to try to stop Yellow Diamond's ship.
- After being freed by Steven she takes control of the ship and redirects it's course back to Earth.
Season 2[]
- She and Garnet clean up the debris left from the ship's crashing.
- She and the others were looking for Peridot's escape pod and attacked it after finding it, unaware that Steven was inside.
- She agrees to train Connie in sword-fighting, though she originally taught her to put Steven above her own safety, by the end of the episode she lets her own self-destructive tendencies of protecting Rose go and begins to teach Connie and Steven together.
- She and the others go to the ocean to look for Malachite.
- She fuses with Garnet to destroy the communication hub, though she rebuilt it several times so she could feel strong by forming Sardonyx.
- She tracked down Peridot to ancient gem colony ship and took the other gems to stop her, while there she becomes stuck with Garnet in a closing chamber and talks it out with her, making amends and forming Sardonyx to escape.
- She builds a drill with Peridot's help so that they can head down to the Cluster and prevent it from emerging, making her partly responsible for saving the entire planet by preventing th Cluster from emerging and destroying the Earth's surface before Steven befriended it.
- She and the others chase Peridot down to prevent her from contacting Yellow Diamond, before Peridot defected.
Season 3[]
- She warps to Mark Island with the others and fuses into Alexandrite to fight Malachite, succeding in unfusing her.
- She joins the others in playing a game of baseball to keep the rubies from finding Peridot.
- She and Greg make peace with each other over their shared past with Rose and become friends, even dancing together, finally letting go of their previous tense relationship.
- She escorts Steven and Connie to her first corrupted gem mission and keeps in contact with them through the snowstorm while searching for the Corrupted Gems.
- When Steven released Bismuth, she welcomed her back and tried to explain how much had changed in the past thousands of years.
- She and Garnet form Sardonyx to fight the rubies when their Jasper ruse on the Moon Base was exposed.
- She and the others saved Steven when he was lost in space.
Season 4[]
- She and the others poofed and bubbled all the corrupted gems that Jasper had been keeping impirisioned in the Beta Kindergarten.
- She and Garnet, as Sardonyx, tried to understand Steven and Amethyst when fused into Smoky Quartz.
- She takes Amethyst and Steven to a concert when Greg was unable to do so, meeting and becoming interested in a Mystery Girl in the process.
- She and the others tried to have a nice dinner with Andy as an apology for Greg giving the barn to Peridot and Lapis, making an attempt to understand his culture and important holidays.
- At some point she began giving fusion training to Steven and Connie when they're fused into Stevonnie.
- After Greg was kidnapped by Blue Diamond, she checks with Peridot to make sure the Ruby Ship works and uses it to take Steven and the Gems to space to search for the Human Zoo and rescue Greg.
- She goes undercover as Sapphire's Pearl in order to infiltrate Holly Blue's ship and the Zoo.
- She assists in sneaking Greg out and defeating Holly Blue, she later convinced Holly Blue to stay quiet regarding the Crystal Gems' presence by scaring her with the idea of being punished by the Diamonds for failing to stop them.
- She helps the others put up the new sign at Greg's Car Wash.
- She begins investigating Aquamarine's presence and why she's taking humans from Beach city, later fighting the Homeworld Gems and trying to convince Steven that he doesn't need to give himself up to Homeworld.
Season 5[]
- She and the others searched for several ways to go to Homeworld and rescue Steven before he himself came back through the newfound connection between Lion and Lars.
- She tried to talk Steven over the experiences he must have faced in Homeworld and be there for him when he was upset, not knowing it was because of his argument with Connie.
- She and the other Gems started attending emergency meetings with Nanefua after she became mayor to discuss possible ways of handling a future Homeworld invasion safely for both humans and gems.
- She and the others allowed Peridot to stay at the Temple's bathroom after Lapis left Earth with the barn.
- Knowing that she is unable to physcially tell Steven the truth about Pink Diamond and Rose Quartz, she tells him to go inside her gem and hr subconsious, showing him various of her memories until he eventually learns the truth behind the shattering.
- She cheers up Sapphire by telling her the story of how Pink Diamond became Rose Quartz and why she chose to follow her and the rebellion, helping Sapphire come to peace with Rose's past and return to the Beach House and Ruby.
- She helps set up Ruby and Sapphire's wedding and later accepts Bismuth when she comes back to join the team for good.
- When Yellow and Blue invade together after Garnet's wedding, she joins with the other Crystal Gems to fight them off until Steven reveals himself to be Pink's son.
- She and the others go back with Steven to Homeworld so that they can convince White to redeem hersel and cure all the Corrupted Gems. She also promises to the Maheswarans that she'll be there to take care of Connie.
- Being mistaken as Steven's servant, she goes with him as he gets used to Homeworld and being in Pink Diamond's place and later brings all the others by transporting them inside of her gem.
- She helps Steven set up his Era 3 ball.
- She fuses with Amethyst to form Opal as she and Garnet stand up against the Diamonds while protecting Stevonnie.
- After fusing with Steven to form Rainbow Quartz 2.0, they rescue Ruby and Sapphire from falling and crashing to the ground.
- She fuses with the other Crystal Gems to form Obsidian and climb the Diamond Mech, eventually getting inside.
- Once there, she tries to stand up to White Diamond with the others before being mind controlled.
- She and everyone else bring all the bubbled gems to Rose's fountain where they're healed by the Diamonds and Steven.
Movie[]
- After the events of the series, the Crystal Gems built Little Homeworld on Earth as a place where Gems could come to learn about Earth and be their own persons.
- When Spinel arrives in Beach City, she and the others try to fight her before being poofed and rejuvenated.
- While she was amnesiac and acting as Greg's servant, she still tried to help him and Steven with their plans to restore the Gems memories.
- After regaining her memories, she fuses into Opal and plays with Steg in the concert.
- She tells Steven everything she knows about Spinel to help him understand how to help her.
- She fuses into Alexandrite and saves as many of Beach City's and Little Homeworld's residents as possible from Spinel's injector which had begun to destroy the areas around it.
- She later helps in the reconstruction of Beach City.
Steven Universe Future[]
- She became a teacher in Little Homeschool, where she teacher Gems about modern technology.
- She tries to make the now free Rose Quartzes feel welcome on Earth and Little Homeschool despite being clearly uncomfrotable with their uncanny resemblance to the Rose Quartz she knew.
- She takes Steven and Pink Pearl to the Reef in order to try to find a way to heal her broken eye.
- She fuses with Pink Pearl to form Mega Pearl and saves Steven from the Reef's defensive measures before they can be rejuvenated.
- She and the others try to give Bluebird a chance at betterment and later defeat her as Alexandrite when she attacked Steven.
- While fused with Steven as Rainbow Quartz 2.0, she takes care of Onion and tries to watch over him on her own when Steven has to leave to deal with other duties.
- She and the others try to have fun with Steven like they used to by playing Steven Tag, and later apologize to Steven for making him feel like akid again, accepting that he is growing and doesn't fully depend on them anymore.
- When the Cactus Steven becomes aggresive and begins wrecking havoc in the Beach House, she and the others fight him before Steven convinces him to calm down and leave, later trying to talk to Steven about his feelings.
- She tries to teach Bismuth about humans and how to interact with them.
- When Steven was missing (as he was training with Jasper and accidentally shattered her), she and the other Gems began looking for him and he tried to check on him when he returned before he locked himself in the bathroom.
- She tried to talk with Steven when he blocked her, the Gems, and Jasper out and left for Homeworld and tries to talk to him about his outburts and rage when he comes back.
- She comforts Bismuth when Steven accidentally breaks her anvil.
- She, Garnet, Amethyst, Greg, and Connie make an intervention for Steven to confront him about his recent behavior and the damage he did in Little Homeschool, trying to convince him to let them help him right before he gets corrupted.
- She and the others try to reach out to the Corrupted Steven's monstrous form before he can cause more destruction.
- She and the others form Alexandrite to prevent Steven from climbing up the hill before he throws them off and causes them to unfuse.
- When Steven has defeated the Diamonds and the Cluster and the others wonder what to, Pearl states that Steven is still Steven despite becoming a monster, showing she still wants to help him.
- After being motivated by Connie, she and the others cling to Steven and apologize for not being there for him and telling him how much he means to them, which eventually allows Steven to return to his human form.
- When Steven decides to leave, she and the others hide their feelings as they don't want Steven to feel obliged to stay because of them and want him to follow his dreams and do what he wants.
- She says farewell to Steven and watches him leave Beach City, showing she has subverted her overprotective tendencies and is ready to le Steven go and become his own person outside of Rose and the Crystal Gems.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite subverting most of her previous jealous and overprotective behavior, she can still act like a jerk at times as she was rude to Pink Pearl when she was talking about Pink's rampages, which Pearl didn't know about.
