Pac-Man, also known as Pacster, or just Pac, often stylized as PAC-MAN, and known by the Japanese as Puck-Man, is the titular main protagonist of Bandai Namco's video game franchise of the same name.
Pac-Man is a fictional alien superhero who serves as the mascot of NAMCO, and its successor company, BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment. Residing in Pac-Land, he is the husband of Ms. Pac-Man, and the father of Baby Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man. Pac-Man typically favors a high appetite eating food and various kinds of Pac-Dots, as well as eating Ghosts. Since his first appearance in the eponymous title in 1980, Pac-Man has become a legendary video game icon and is one of the most recognizable fictional characters in the world.
He was voiced by Duncan MacLaren in Pac-Man: Adventures in Time, Martin T. Sherman in Pac-Man World 3 who reprised his role in Pac-Man World 2 Re-Pac, and Debi Derryberry in Street Fighter X Tekken.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- He saved his family from the Ghosts and protected all of Pac-Land, numerous times.
- He defeated the ghosts in Pac-Attack by outsmarting them in a puzzle strategy and eating them to protect them from harming any other Pac-Worlder.
- He defeated Toc-Man, his spectral doppelganger who has been impersonating the real Pac-Man, building robots and machinery and tried defeating Pac-Man to usurp his role by kidnapping Pac-Man's family members in the first Pac-Man World game.
- He defeated the ship, HMS Windbag, from committing murder towards Pac-Man via cannons.
- He defeated the temple, Anubis Rex, from murdering Pac-Man himself with sending fireballs flying at Pac-Man, launching black tornadoes out to follow Pac-Man, and shooting beams of energy at him. With all of these things happening at the same time, the fight was tough for Pac-Man to defuse.
- He defeated an large crab-like spaceship, King Galaxian, a monarch who commands Galaxian ships to attack Pac-Man. He also prevented King Galaxian from weaponizing malefic like tractor laser beams to commit murder towards Pac-Man in an abyss of space.
- He defeated multiple Clown Racers in Clown Prix (caused by Toc-Man) from crashing into Pac-Man and attempting to make him lose the race with Pac-Man's life at stake.
- He defeated Krome Keeper, an minion of Toc-Man controlled by artificial intelligence and the robotic tyrant of the Pac-Dot Factory, from committing unprovoked attacks towards Pac-Man via boxes and weaponized uses of metal.
- He defeated Spooky, a ghostly ruler who tried harming the Pac-People and getting Pac-Man's tree, the Wormwood, and tried to commit genocide to do so out of vengeance in Pac-Man World 2.
- He defeated Erwin, an megalomaniacal humanoid who has a strong desire for destruction and attempted using a Spectral Syphon of his own design to suck in energy to annihilate Pac-Land.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite having the mindset and the heightened level of admirable actions to make him easily qualified as Pure Good, he is still prone to behaving like an arrogant jerk towards others, and is occasionally overconfident and lethal towards his rivals and enemies. This is a minor prevention, however, as it only happens occasionally as mentioned before, but nonetheless, notable examples include:
- After defeating Toc-Man and revealing to be a ghost, Orson, in a machine, he disregarded his emotional breakdown and complaints of Pac-Man "ruining" his birthday party, as well as his complaint of mankind's lack of love to a ghost, serving as a moment Orson learned his lesson of being "evil" towards Pac-Man and desired to be redeemed. Instead of attempting to sympathize with him and accepting his redemption by having him be a friend of his, Pac-Man makes usage of his power pellet, grabs him while he is afraid and forcibly eats him without a second thought, all while shrugging it off like it is the right choice to perform, all of which Pac-Man performs in Pac-Man World. However, this was altered in the game's remake, where Pac-Man forgives Orson in the good ending, so long as he saves all the members of his family. As a result, this is justified and depends on the player's choice.
- He was also assertive towards Orson at certain occasions in Pac-Man World 3.
Trivia[]
- Pac-Man is the oldest NPG video game mascot, and predates Mario, who is considered Pure Good.
- Pac-Man, Sonic the Hedgehog, Cloud Strife and Joker are the only third-party fighters in the Super Smash Bros. series to be considered Near Pure Good.
