Otis is the main protagonist of Nickelodeon's 16th full-length animated feature film Barnyard.
He is a male bovine from a farm who often doesn't take things around him too seriously, preferring to just having fun instead, that is until Ben taught him about the matter of responsibility. He is also Ben's adoptive son, Daisy]'s boyfriend, Lil' Ben's adoptive father and Pip's best friend.
He is voiced by Kevin James.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite his playful demeanor that often avoids responsibility, he never really wanted to cause trouble.
- He matured after becoming a leader, becoming more responsible.
- He stopped the animals from eliminating the farmer, reminding them that he had always been very kind to them.
- He prevented the farmer from discovering the animals' wisdom.
- While at one point he wanted to leave the barn, the narrative doesn't present this as corrupting, as he was devastated by the feeling that he couldn't protect anyone. And yet, he was quick to subvert this when he discovered that the coyotes had tricked him, going to defeat them to save his friends personally.
- He defeated the coyotes for good, saving the entire barnyard from them.
- He decides not to kill Dag, even though he had every justifiable reason to do so, and instead simply sends him away.
- He swears to the animals that as long as he is alive, no one will harm them, repeating his adoptive father's oath, becoming a suitable leader for the barnyard.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite having matured almost completely, he still has some mischievous moments that he doesn't subvert, such as him trolling the mailman by making faces behind him; or, along with the Jersey Cows, pushing Snotty Boy out of bed and laughing in his face (even though he deserved it).
Trivia[]
- His counterpart from the Back at the Barnyard series doesn't qualify as Near Pure Good because he's too immature and selfish.
