What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- While during his time as a soldier, he displayed brutal lethality against Afghani forces, he subverted his lethality when he made a vow of pacifism and joined the army medical corps to save lives instead of taking them.
- Unlike many aristocrats of his time, he harbored no imperialistic views and accepted that his ancestors came to power by doing terrible things.
- Although he broke his vow of non-violence to assassinate Rasputin, it was the right thing to do as Rasputin was manipulating the Tsar into pulling Russia out of the war by poisoning the Tsarevich. He also felt remorseful after doing so, despite it being Polly who pulled the trigger.
- He helped Polly crack the code of Germany's communication through a spy network, leading to them discovering their plans to encourage Mexico to attack America, a large factor in the United States joining the war.
- When Conrad swapped places with Archie Reid to go to war against his wishes, he kept Archie from getting into trouble at Conrad's request. He later recruited Archie as one of the first Kingsman with him taking up the role of Lancelot.
- While he fell into a pit of alcoholism and despair after Conrad's death, he soon snapped out of it after Polly told him that he should aim to become the man Conrad would have been in his place.
- He risked his life retrieving the tapes that Captain Morton was using to blackmail President Wilson into keeping America out of the war, leading to them entering and officially ending it.
- His killing of Captain Morton was for the greater good as Morton was a genuine threat to both him and Europe as a whole. It was a necessary sacrifice of his pacifist code he did out of respect for Conrad.
- He founded Kingsman, making him indirectly responsible for everything the organization did to save people in the future.
What Prevents Him from Being Pure Good?[]
- While his overprotectiveness of Conrad came from good intentions, he went about it in the wrong way by limiting Conrad's freedom to leave the country and join the military when those weren't his decisions to make.
- When attempting to drown Rasputin, he gloated about his leg being healed. A Pure Good character wouldn't attempt to kill a villain in such an undignified way.
Triva[]
- He, alongside Roxy Morton, is one of the only two heroes from the Kingsman franchise to be Near Pure Good.
