Orion Pax, later known as Optimus Prime is the main protagonist of the rebooted continuity of the Transformers live-action film series. He is the overarching protagonist of the 2018 science fiction action film Bumblebee and one of the two main protagonists of the 2023 sequel film Transformers: Rise of the Beasts alongside Noah Diaz.
He is the Autobot leader who led the cause against the forces of the Decepticons on Cybertron before the planet fell, and now leads the remaining Autobots on the planet Earth, while protecting humanity and trying to find a way back home.
He is voiced by Peter Cullen, like most incarnations of the character.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
Bumblebee[]
- He led the Autobots in the final battle for Cybertron against the Decepticons.
- Once he realized the fight couldn't be won, he ordered all Autobots to retreat.
- He gave B-127/Bumblebee the mission to establish an Autobot base on Earth so that they can fight on against the Decepticons cruelty.
- He stayed behind to buy time for Bee and the other Autobots to leave, even though the tower was collapsing and he nearly perished.
- After arriving on Earth and meeting up with Bee he thanked him for all his efforts and admired his bravery.
- He accepted B-127's decision to be named Bumblebee.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts[]
- He kept command of the Autobots on Earth for 7 years and gave himself the task of getting them all back home.
- He blamed himself for the Autobots being stranded on Earth and searched for ways to make it right.
- When he sees the Transwarp Key activate, he immediately calls all Autobots to try and retrieve it so they can go back home.
- He made a plan to retrieve the Transwarp key and accepted Mirage's suggestion of getting help from Noah Diaz despite his distrust in humans.
- Tolerates Mirage despite his jokes and recklessness. As a result, Mirage defends Optimus as just being anxious to return home when Noah criticizes the Autobot Leader’s attitude.
- As soon as the Terrorcons arrived, he headed to fight them alongside the other Autobots.
- He was incredibly devastated by Bumblebee's "death" and tried to prevent Scourge from killing everyone else.
- When Airazor informs him that there is still a part of the Transwarp key in Peru, he made it his objective to retrieve it before Scourge.
- He contacted Stratosphere so he could transport the Autobot Team to Peru.
- He and the other Autobots remained in vehicle mode keeping an eye out for Scourge while Noah and Elena searches for the Transwarp Key.
- He confronted and fought Scourge and tries to get revenge for Bumblebee when he can think of no better place to bury Scourge.
- Though he initially tried to attack Optimus Primal, it was only because he believed him to be a threat, and to protect his friends. He immediately retracted any violent behavior towards Primal once Airazor cleared up the confusion.
- Optimus asked Primal why stay on Earth while he had the Transwarp Key, only learned that Primal and his Maximals made an oath to dedicate the preservation of life no matter cost and Earth is a safe refugee.
- He and Primal made a tomb for Bee so he could have a peaceful final resting place.
- When Airazor was corrupted by Scourge, he tried to protect the humans from her.
- Optimus shown sadness when seeing Primal was forced to kill Airazor.
- Inspired by Primal's belief, he made a plan to go fight Scourge directly and prevent him from using the Transwarp key to bring Unicron to Earth.
- He also stated that he was fully willing to die fighting to protect the planet.
- He led the Autobots and Maximals on the final battle against the Scourge and fought the Terrorcon Freezers alongside Primal.
- Defeated Battletrap by working together with Primal although Primal stole Prime's kill, who said, "he was mine".
- He went to the bridge to fight Scourge directly and also to protect Noah.
- He finally killed Scourge by beheading him and also took back Bee's insignia, which Scourge had removed previously and avenging all Cybertronians who been killed by Scourge.
- He decided to destroy the Transwarp Key to prevent Unicron from getting to Earth even though it meant that he would not only lose any chance of going back home but also likely die, giving his life for Earth and humanity.
- He refused to listen to Unicron's bargaining for him to stop.
- After being saved by Noah and Primal, he drove both himself and Noah to safety.
- He says if Unicron returns, the Autobots and Maximals united with humans will destroy him once and for all.
- After returning to America, he has gained a newfound trust in humankind and vows to fight any upcoming evil together (be they Decepticons or Unicron).
- Even though he was very distrusting of humanity as a whole and acted slightly jerkishly and mean towards Noah, by the end of the film he learns to trust Noah and other humans, letting go of his previous untrusting worldview.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Has some rude moments such as when Bumblebee talks back to him because he was unwilling to see humans could be trusted, he bans him from going to drive-in theaters. Furthermore, he unfairly blamed Noah for Bee's death, though he did apologize later.
- He's very lethal as he acted very violent and brutal towards Scourge, brutally murdering him during their final battle by ripping out his headpiece and then forcing him into lava before cleaving off both his arms and finally pulling off his head with his blade. Though this was justified as Bee, his closest friend, had been presumably murdered by Scourge and that Scourge did deserve to die brutally for willingly helping Unicron try to commit omnicide along with the fact that he was defending himself, the way Prime acted was still far too vengeful and violent for PG since he shoved him into the lava multiple times.
- He is a bit reckless, as he can sometimes forget to protect his allies in the heat of battle, as proven when he failed to save Bumblebee from being stabbed to death by Scourge and when he targeted Scourge in the final battle when he should be first fending off the threats to his allies.
