It was so easy letting someone else choose my life for me.
~ Nix

Nix is a major character in the AMC series Into the Badlands.

She is one of the Dark Ones that follows Pilgrim and kills in his name, alongside Castor. While she is initially extremely loyal to Pilgrim and his mission to build a new Azra, after he murders Castor she begins to doubt if he means anything he says or just sees her as a tool, and he eventually abandons his cause altogether to begin fighting against him with the warriors of the Badlands.

She was portrayed by Ella-Rae Smith.

Her Good Ranking[]

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]

  • She is extremely kind towards everyone in Pilgrim's following, having a close friendship (and implied romantic relationship) with Castor, and later welcoming M.K. into their following. Even after she abandons Pilgrim she still retains her affability and is kind towards Sunny, the Widow, and Tilda.
  • She takes care of Castor as his Gift begins to overtax his body, urging him to not use his Gift as she knows it may lead to his death.
  • Once she becomes capable of using her Gift at will, she sees Pilgrim nearly kill one of his followers in anger and she proceeds to stop him using her Gift.
  • The death of Castor followed by the revelation that Pilgrim is the one who killed him causes her to finally escape Pilgrim's brainwashing and abandon his following so she can fight alongside the warriors of the Badlands.
  • She calls M.K. out on his hypocrisy of wanting to murder Sunny for having killed his mother, even though both her and M.K. have been killers in the past, and that M.K. killing Sunny will leave his son Henry as an orphan.
  • She saves Sunny from being killed by M.K. and helps him to escape from Pilgrim's followers.
  • She helps the Widow save her daughter Tilda and lover Gaius Chau from Baron Chau, as it is essentially a suicide mission if the Widow goes alone, whereas if she has the help of Nix and her Gift they will be able to save the Widow's allies without any serious danger.
  • Nix joins in the war between the warriors of the Badlands and Pilgrim's following, and when Pilgrim invades the Widow's territory, Nix stays behind to fight him in order to buy time for the Widow and her allies to escape. Nix tells Pilgrim that she is fighting him to avenge Castor, and even after he fatally injures her she remains defiant, telling him that his Azra will be a wasteland, just like his soul.

What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]

  • She has an extremely callous moment in regards to her relationship with Castor, when M.K. joins Pilgrim's following Nix begins growing very close with him and shows him several of the different objects that she and Castor had previously found together in the Azran temple. While this normally wouldn't be an issue, the fact is that Castor is essentially on his deathbed due to his Gift killing him, and so he is justifiably hurt by Nix abandoning him for M.K. and believes that M.K. is there to replace him, which ends up being correct as Castor's declining health is the reason why Cressida added M.K. to Pilgrim's following.
