Niko is the main protagonist of the 2014 RPG Maker game OneShot.
They are brought to a world on the brink of destruction as a reluctant savior. Throughout the game, they interact with the player, solving puzzles and confronting a mysterious entity, which are later revealed to be the World Machine.
Their Good Ranking[]
What Makes Them Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In general[]
- Niko is a kind and trustworthy
catperson who always helps the characters they met and the Player throughout the game. - Although the Player and Author do more to save the world, Niko stands out for their important role in the process while having fewer resources.
Return the Sun/Return Home chapter[]
- They recharge the power generator of the Barrens area, activating long-dormant robots.
- They repair Rowbot when it was rusted to the point of not being able to move.
- Playing chess with Silver as a way to repay her help before saying goodbye.
- After arriving at the Glen, Niko worries that Rowbot will continue to be lonely when it returns to the Barrens.
- Befriending Calamus and Alula, two siblings struggling to survive in a world on the brink of collapse after finding a lost Alula and helping them reunite.
- They comfort Maize, a dying plant goddess by giving her the Sun, fulfilling her last wish before passing away.
- Helping the shepherd herd her rams.
- When arriving at the Refuge, Niko plants the seed left behind by Maize, reviving her into a new life.
- Helping Plight create a new button and repair the elevator.
- When arriving at the tower, Niko returns the Sun to the Tower and accepts that they can't go back home.
Soltice chapter[]
- They find Prototype in the mine, opening up another path to save the world and return home.
- Niko worries about Silver when she's trying to stop the mine from collapsing and is about to die after the Entity causes chaos in the mine.
- They take Proto's memory disk and successfully deliver it to Cedric, reviving him later.
- Helping Cedric repair his flying machine.
- Niko panics when Alula and Calamus are stranded on the island after Cedric's flying machine is corrupted by a glitch.
- Cries immediately after the research facility collapses, thinking Cedric and Proto are dead.
- They bravely admit their desire to save the world although the journey will be more dangerous than the Return the Sun chapter, successfully convincing Kip and George and subverting their skepticism and pragmatism in the previous chapter.
- After hearing the backstory of the World Machine (the Entity) from Rue, Niko sympathizes and redeems it from its destruction, fixing the world's errors and bringing everyone who dies from the glitches back.
- Saying goodbye to the Player one last time before going back home.
What Prevents Them From Being Pure Good?[]
- They are a bit reckless since they don't hesitate to give the shepherd, a stranger, the Sun to help her herd the rams when Prophetbot warned that it is fragile, thankfully the shepherd refused. Another time was when Niko gave the sun to Maize to calm her down, they panicked when the light went out after Maize passed away, showing Niko didn't think it through. However, it's a minor prevention since they wanted to help out and didn't have any bad intentions.
Trivia[]
- Niko shares some similarities with the Batter, a character from another RPG Maker game, as both are assigned to a sacred mission to change the world, aware of their actions are affected by an extradimensional being and are antagonized by a cat-like entity.
- Ironically, Niko is Near Pure Good and The Batter is Near Pure Evil.
