Thomas A. Anderson, also known as Neo, is the main protagonist of The Matrix franchise. A former redpill rescued by Morpheus, Neo has a special destiny as The One who will save humanity.

He is portrayed by Keanu Reeves.

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

  • He bravely refused to hand over Morpheus when Agent Smith offered him this in return for destroying evidence about his hacking activities.
  • He decided to take the red pill when Morpheus offered him a choice, deciding to see the true nature of the world. Once there, he turned out to be the chosen one, who was supposed to save all makind.
  • Gradually, he developed a loving relationship with Trinity.
  • After Morpheus was captured by the agents, the rest of the hackers thought to disable him (which would kill Morpheus), but Neo decided to return to the Matrix and save him at all costs.
  • He prevented a war between humans and Als.
  • As a result, he received the power of the chosen one, and with it defeated Agent Smith, thereby preventing his plan to destroy humanity.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • Sometimes he is lethal, such as when he killed a lot of guards. Although he didn't have much choice at this point.

Trivia[]

  • Initially, he was Inconsistently Admirable, since his murders of a bunch of guards were considered too corrupting prevention. But later it was decided that he didn't really have much choice at that moment, and he committed all these murders involuntarily, after which he was recognized as Near Pure Good.
  • Ironically, his arch-nemesis Agent Smith is Near Pure Evil while he is Near Pure Good.
