~ Avdol returning to save Polnareff from Cameo. |
Muhammad Avdol is a major protagonist in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure Part III: Stardust Crusaders.
He is an old Egyptian friend of Joseph Joestar and a fortune teller with vast knowledge of Stands. He serves as the guide of the Joestar group on their journey to Egypt to defeat DIO. Avdol wields the pyrokinetic Stand, Magician's Red, named after the Magician tarot card.
He is voiced by Kenta Miyake in Japanese and Chris Tergliaflera in English.
His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- Prior to the events of Part 3, he:
- Defeated Iggy and brought him to the Speedwagon Foundation.
- Refused to let DIO control him and helped Joseph track him.
- He accompanies Joseph to Tokyo to teach Jotaro about his Stand, allowing him to test it against Magician's Red and naming it Star Platinum.
- He determines Holly is ill due to her Stand damaging her weak body.
- He identifies that the fly in DIO's picture is a Nile Tse-tse fly, confirming that DIO must be in Egypt.
- He battles Polnareff while he is under DIO's control. While he burns Polnareff in a rather lethal way, he offers him a dagger to end his pain, and when Polnareff doesn't attack him with the knife, Avdol renoves DIO's flesh bud out of respect for Polnareff's honor.
- He mentors Polnareff, encouraging him not to recklessly attack J. Geil or let his vengefulness blind him.
- He protects Polnareff from J. Geil and Hol Horse, taking a bullet from Hol Horse that severely grazed and could have killed him.
- He only hid his survival from Polnareff because he knew that Polnareff might recklessly reveal it, which could cause Avdol to actually die.
- He returns to save Polnareff from Cameo and his zombie versions of Sherry Polnareff and Avdol, then defeated Cameo.
- He gives the submarine he had bought to the group, which is what allows them to finally reach Egypt.
- He contacts the Speedwagon Foundation to add Iggy to the group, and explains ways to keep the dog tamed.
- He helps in the fight with N'Doul by making noise by throwing rings on the ground, nearly defeating him before his Stand dodged at the last second.
- He only refused to gamble against D'Arby because he knew he was too emotional to gamble well.
- He showed standards towards Jotaro's questionable tactic of betting Kakyoin and Holly's souls against D'Arby without their consent.
- He and Joseph defeated Mariah by outsmarting her and using her magnetic Stand against her.
- He tracked Kenny. G with his flames, allowing Iggy to defeat him before he could do anything.
- He pushed Polnareff and Iggy out of the way of Vanilla Ice, before Ice killed him by disintegrating him in his dark dimension.
- His spirit gives Polnareff a final thumbs-up to encourage him to face DIO, before passing on into the afterlife.
- While quite serious for the most part, he still is comedic in his own way and doesn't darken the story's tone.
- He is a voice of reason to the group, and is very loyal to them (especially Joseph and Polnareff).
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Though he easily passes the baseline for sacrificing himself twice for Polnareff and adding Iggy to the group, he still fails the Admirable Standards to Kakyoin, who helped defeat more villains and made a more direct sacrifice to defeat DIO with less resources.
- The way he defeats Cameo is too mischievous and crude. He encouraged Polnareff to drop dirt, flies and a lit match down Cameo's breathing pipe, before laughing boisterously and almost sadistically while urinating down the pipe into Cameo's mouth alongside Polnareff. However, this is a minor prevention, considering Cameo was a sadist who tormented Polnareff with zombie versions of Avdol and his sister Sherry, and Avdol never acts like this again.
Trivia[]
- Avdol and Noriaki Kakyoin are the only Stardust Crusaders characters to be Near Pure Good.
