Mikasa Ackerman is one of the two deuteragonists (alongside Armin Arlert) of the Attack on Titan franchise.
Being adopted by the Yeagers after the Kidnappers killed her parents and Eren saved her from them, Mikasa decided to protect Eren no matter what, leading to her joining the Survey Corps and protecting him from the Titans and the Warriors.
She is voiced by Yui Ishikawa in Japanese, and Trina Nishimura in English.
Her Good Ranking[]
What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- As one of the Kidnappers was strangling Eren, Mikasa unlocked her latent Ackerman powers in order to successfully save him from the man.
- Protected Eren from the bullies who often beat him up due to his rash nature.
- She put her own life in danger to desperately attempt to save Carla's life from the Pure Titans, so she could escape with her and Eren.
- Dedicated her military training to protect Eren, knowing that he wants to kill all the Titans and is extremely impulsive and hot-headed, which were a red flag that he would get himself killed quickly without her watching over him.
- She fought bravely in the Battle of Trost District to defend both comrades and civilians, and in the operation to close the breach of Trost's outer gate, repeatedly saving people from getting eaten alive.
- When the greedy merchant Dimo Reeves was blocking Trost's inner gate and refusing to let other civilians pass, thus risking their lives and slowing down the evacuation, Mikasa threatened him to save both civilians and soldiers, as the latter had to keep facing the Titans until everyone would evacuate.
- Although she became suicidal due to believing Eren died to the Titans, after seeing him alive as the Attack Titan, she dropped it and continued her mission, also expressing shame and regret in her thoughts for allowing her personal problems to put the lives of her comrades at risk.
- When Sasha fails to kill her designated Titan, Mikasa saves Sasha.
- When she believed that Levi wanted to torture Eren, Mikasa was willing to jump in his defense and fight Levi, until Armin stopped her.
- Fought the Female Titan to stop her from running outside the Walls with her kidnapped captive Eren, helping Levi to rescue him.
- Prevented Annie from escaping outside Stohess District and aided in her capture.
- When Eren was mourning Hannes' demise, believed they were about to be killed by Dina's Smiling Titan, and was going on a self-loathing induced screeching rant, she emotionally comforted him and told her that he had made her happy in life, which motivated him to get his act together, attack the Smiling Titan, and unknowingly and briefly unlock the power of the Founding Titan to save them both.
- She was supportive of Armin's misigivings about Zeke's plan to activate a small-scale Rumbling in a terror tactic to intimidate Marley and the rest of the world into leaving Paradis Island alone for the next 50 years.
- She also disagreed with Eren's suggestion to start waging war against Marley without resorting to diplomacy first, reminding him that some Marleyans (such as Niccolo and others) living on Paradis became friends with them, despite Eren's pessimistic reply.
- When Eren told her and Armin that humanity is not wrong for seeing Eldians as nothing but dangerous monsters, Mikasa supported the latter's belief that more time and patience were needed to change the world's views of Eldians, instead of supporting Eren's wishes for a violent approach.
- Instead of becoming filled with hatred like Floch and other Yeagerists, Mikasa behaved with understanding toward humanity outside the Walls, despite its overwhelming animosity toward Eldia, stating that it's because they are ignorant about the truth and don't trust people they never met.
- Despite Eren's increasingly immoral behavior in the timeskip, she was certain to see the best in him while still being willing to call out his immoral actions, such as him killing civilians and children during the Raid on Liberio, crying in disappointment for what Eren did.
- Refused to directly target civilians during the Raid on Liberio.
- Protected Gabi from Kaya's attempt to stab her with a knife, knowing Gabi is a victim of war, and also gently checked if Gabi was hurt after Niccolo previously attacked her.
- She asked Jean with concern what he was going to do with the enemy captive Falco, after seeing how he restrained him.
- Expressed worry for her superiors Hange and Levi when she asked Floch what happened to them.
- She was appalled with the Yeagerists and their beliefs, also being disappointed with Louise's blind fanaticism and darwinism, and her claim that Mikasa inspired her to become who she was.
- Forgave Reiner and Annie despite them attempting to kill her and killing numerous of her comrades.
- Joined the alliance between the Survey Corps and the Marleyan soldiers in order to prevent Eren from destroying the world via the Rumbling.
- Killed Eren, against her personal desire to speak with him again, saving all the lives of the Eldians and Marleyans at Fort Salta, and causing all the Titanized people to revert into humans, including Jean, Gabi, Connie, Karina, the Warriors' families, and Connie's mother.
- By doing so, she possibly prevented the Rumbling from being re-activated and saved the remaining 20% of humanity, as the giant parasitic anomaly was trying to reconnect with Eren, which, according to Gabi, might've resulted in the Rumbling restarting after Zeke's death.
- Attempted to make Eren's death as quick as possible, and emotionally comforted him before he underwent brain death after being decapitated.
- Despite his horrific actions and extremely unhealthy relationship with her, she recognized Eren deeply loved her in his twisted fashion and was unable to make herself despise him after his death, mourning him and occasionally visiting his grave despite not remotely forgiving his actions.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She has her moments of ruthlessness, as seen when threatening the life of Mr. Reeves in order to drop the wares, as well as when she threatened Historia and Ymir's life for getting in her way, and sometimes can be needlessly brutal while killing her opponents.
- She can sometimes be very cold, as seen when she left Louise, who idolized her, to die alone due to her joining the Yeagerists and for saying she had no regrets for her actions.
