Melissa Turfblu is a major character in the Inkopolis Chaos trilogy. She serves as one of the three deuteragonists of Inkopolis Chaos 2 and a major character in Inkopolis Chaos 3. She is Samuel’s overprotective older sister who wants to make sure no harm goes his way. She starts off distrustful to octolings due to past experiences, until she was saved by one, so she began to trust them more.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
- She is always protecting her brother whenever possible.
- She refused to hand in Samuel to the octobusters.
- She and Ruby rescued dozens of hostage octolings from the octobusters stadium.
- She helped expose and take down the octobusters.
- While she used to hate octolings (albeit for an understandable reason), after Ruby talked to her, she let go of her old ways, and learns to trust octolings, even apologising to Natalie for her harsh treatment of her.
- She helped free octolings from brainwashing.
- She tried to take down Scarlet after she killed 11 people.
- After Ruby suffered from a horrific nightmare, she calmed her down and reassured her that it wasn’t her fault that Cyalux ended up the way he was, and harshly told off her inner demons, who were completely destroying Ruby’s mental health.
- She helped rescue Cap’n Cuttlefish, Callie, Marie and Bethany.
- She was protecting Sylvia in the final battle, noticeably concerned for her mental state when fighting against Blakeson.
- She indirectly saved Summer’s life with ink armour, as when she activated it, it activated for Summer as well due to their same ink colour, saving Summer from being stabbed by Scarlet.
- She killed Sub Lieutenant Blakeson in the final battle, avenging everyone he killed, and preventing him from doing anything bad towards inklings or octolings ever again.
- While she did start off extremely overprotective and controlling, and was xenophobic towards octolings, she subverted these corrupting qualities as the story progressed. At the end of the story, she mentions that she wants to help people protect themselves and work together, showing not only a desire to help, but also that she is no longer as controlling as she was.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- While she goes above the general standards, she fails the admirable standards to Samuel, Natalie and Luke, who did more than her with similar resources and abilities. However, she does what she can with her abilities and resources, and did defeat an NPE villain, so she manages to stand out enough.
- She has been shown to have a short fuse, and due to her intense paranoia, she acts quite irrational sometimes as a result.
Trivia[]
- Melissa was originally considered a Heroic Benchmark, as it was thought that she didn’t do anything to stand out. However, after looking back, it was revealed that she did enough, allowing her to be Near Pure Good.
