Oh Optimus, if only you could see me now.
~ Megatron musing Optimus.

Megatron is one of the major protagonists of Machinima's Transformers: Prime Wars Trilogy published by Hasbro.

Initially, Megatron was a former leader of the Decepticons, who were known for villainous roles. However, after being abandoned by his troops during the Conclusion, he chose to be left alone. He later joined the Autobots to defeat villainous threats while gradually redeeming himself.

He was voiced by Jason Marnocha.

His Good Ranking?[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

In general/Background[]

  • While this Megatron is no exception from villainy like many other incarnations, not much is known about it. Although Megatron once killed Optimus as Galvatron, this was under Unicron's orders and reversed. He also had the opportunity to kill Optimus during the Conclusion but remained alone as his troops abandoned him. As the series progresses and Megatron only contributes to heroism to see what's going on, he gradually respects Optimus, even musing to him and wishing Prime to see him redeeming himself to commit genuine admirable deeds for the most of Power of The Primes.
    • In addition due to a lack of detail of his crimes they do not hurt him and likely more than made up for them anyways.
  • Megatron has many opportunities to return to his villainy, but he decides not to, including:
    • His opportunity to use the Enigma of Combination for evil. Megatron returned it to Optimus and Windblade as he claimed to be more than meets the eye.
    • His option to rejoin Megatronus in his plans, but when Optimus and Metroplex got killed while attacking the Fallen Prime, Megatron revealed to the others that he was only stalling him, even claiming that the two shouldn't have attacked him.
    • Finally, as Unicron tries to corrupt Megatron into Galvatron, instead of accepting the offer, Megatron heavily rejects it and allows his sacrifice to defeat the Planet-Devouring Monster and his hegemonic attempts to conquer the universe. He even revealed that he is willing to do it for the sake of his team and Cybertron.
      • Overall, this proved that while Megatron is still a bit of old self, he finally chose to do good and go beyond villainy to the point of putting his allies as his priority, making himself no longer anti-heroic and self-serving.
  • He passed the admirable standards for playing the most role of defeating heinous villains, including Overlord, Megatronus, and Unicron, and saving lives at a scale of universal.
  • While he did show zero remorse for Predaking's death, he likely didn't have time since he was in the heat of the battle and too occupied to show remorse currently, and it's also evidenced that he did not intend for his death.

The series[]

  • Megatron confronted Starscream about the latter betraying The Council to obtain the Enigma of Combination.
  • After retrieving the Enigma, he returned it to Optimus Prime and Windblade, allowing peace once more.
  • When Optimus' words attach him to the point where he wants to see Mistress of Flames, after seeing her dying, he respectfully asks her about who caused her death, which is Overlord.
  • He revealed to the Combiners about the killer of the Mistress of Flames.
  • When Megatronus showed up, Megatron stalled the Fallen Prime until Optimus and Metroplex ambushed him, only to fail. After that, he has no choice but to team up with the Autobots.
  • After entering the dome, he confronted Optimus Primal and proving was trusted to use the Requiem Blaster. He came out to stop Predaking from attacking Volcanicus and Victorion because the latter didn't have the Enigma.
  • As Primal returned with the Requiem Blaster from retreating from Overlord, Megatron fired it at the ruthless Decepticon rival to end his crimes.
  • After Victorion's death, Megatron respectfully claimed he missed her as she treads on his mark. He also showed respect to Windblade who helped him fighting Overlord.
  • He finally agreed to lead his team to Megatronus and end his plans. While he did tell his allies to shut up, it was because Megatron was embarrassed to accept doing good by Windblade, and later, he continued to fight with his allies and respectfully claimed that he was also putting his allies first to defeat Unicron.
  • He confronted Solus about Megatronus and his crimes of draining all life sparks.
  • He tried to fire the Blaster at Solus, causing Megatronus to attack him, only for the latter's love to drag him into the well and free other sparks.
  • As Unicron tries to corrupt Megatron into Galvatron, he tries to fend him off from corruption, claiming he belongs to no one while also willing to protect his team and accepting his sacrifice with Primal's final option. He did tell Unicron to shut up. It isn't prevention to Megatron as Unicron is a destroyer and uses Megatron as a pawn for his crimes.
  • His death proved that Megatron fully redeemed himself and made others respect him even more, ending most of the villainous terrors around Cybertron and the universe.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • Megatron did fully redeem himself, but he still has some shades of his old self, such as his arrogance toward Megatronus while fighting him, even if it was a one-off moment or having minor jerkish moments.
  • He is threatening to Predaking, Megatronus, and Solus. However, this is a minor prevention for these reasons:
    • While he did try to harm Predaking and fired the Requiem Blaster at him, it was only to calm him down from attacking Victorion, and he didn't intend to kill him.
    • He did take some pleasure in killing Megatronus, somewhat sadistically taking his role to kill another Prime. However, this is only minor because he did muse about Optimus Prime, while Megatronus Prime is far worse than him, and Megatron finally has heroic intentions.
    • He threatened Solus by firing the Requiem Blaster at her, but he had no alternatives while saving Cybertron, and this caused an indirect defeat to Megatronus.

Trivia[]

  • He is currently the only version of Megatron to be NPG, as most stayed villains or those who redeemed himself did too many heinous crimes to make up. Across all continuities, Megatron and Optimus each have only one version that is considered NPG.
