His Good Ranking[]
What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]
Finding Nemo[]
- Upon losing his wife and most of his children to a gluttonous barracuda, he proceeded to dedicate his life to protecting and keeping his sole surviving son, Nemo, alive.
- He gave Nemo his name, knowing his wife wanted to name one of their children Nemo. So he honors her wish.
- Upon Nemo being kidnapped by Dr. Phillip Sherman, he proceeded to travel the entire ocean, while nearly getting killed by sharks and an anglerfish, all in order to get his son back.
- Despite being annoyed by Dory's antics at first, he slowly but surely managed to warm up to her.
- He didn't mean to have Bruce go mental and attack him and Dory.
- He saved Dory from the Jellyfish forest despite the danger it posed to himself.
- He saved an entire group of fish from being caught by fishermen with the help of Nemo and Dory.
- He accepted the fact that he doesn't have to be overly monitoring and controlling for Nemo's safety, letting Nemo have more freedom with how he can live his own life.
Finding Dory[]
- He agreed to help Dory find her parents.
- While he did blow up at Dory, he not only felt remorse for it, but would then later admit to how much she's helped him, showing that he's fully moved past this.
- He went to save Dory along with Nemo after she was caught by some fishermen.
- Even after everything he had been put through, and despite simply wanting to go home, he still chose to assist Dory in finding her parents.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
- Despite toning things down significantly, he still has the occasional jerk moment every now and again such as when he tells Dory to "forget, it's what you do best" at the beginning of Finding Dory, which inadvertently leads to the entire conflict of that film.
- He forced Nigel to fly into the dentist’s office by pulling his tongue despite it being unsafe without feeling remorse afterwards. However, this was only out of desperation to rescue Nemo, making it a minor prevention.
- He can still be a bit of a control freak at times, such as when he sneakily followed Dory to the dropoff due to the fear that she would get lost, similar to Nemo.
