Doctor Maddie Wachowski, also known as Pretzel Lady, is one of the two tritagonists (alongside Knuckles) of the Sonic Cinematic Universe movies.
She is a professional veterinarian and the wife of Tom Wachowski, as well as the adoptive mother of Sonic the Hedgehog, Tails and Knuckles. She is also Rachel's sister and Jojo's aunt.
She is portrayed by Tika Sumpter, who also voiced Quinn Ergon in Final Space.

What Makes Her Close to Being Pure Good?[]
In General[]
- While Team Sonic, Robotnik and Shadow are more admirable than her, they all have far more resources than her, so it's unfair to compare her to them. When comparing her to other human characters, she manages to stand out enough due to helping Team Sonic infiltrate the G.U.N. Base and saving Sonic's life several times.
Sonic the Hedgehog[]
- She gave Sonic the medical attention he needed to recover when Tom brought him to her sister's house unconscious.
- While she did tie her sister up in her house, she only did that just to keep the latter from causing trouble and calling the police to get Tom arrested.
- Helped Tom take Sonic to the Transamerica Pyramid.
- She and Tom decided to adopt Sonic which allowed him to feel at home on Earth as well as give him a place to stay so that he would no longer need to travel across different worlds to ensure that no one would steal his power for evil.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2[]
- Rescued Sonic and Tom from an army of G.U.N. agents.
- She was supportive of her sister's marriage despite the latter's initial disapproval toward her marriage with Tom.
- When Tom scolded Sonic harshly, Maddie tells Tom to relax.
- Although she sent a G.U.N guard flying using one of Tail's gadgets, seriously endangering his life. It was completely accidental since she had no clue on how the gadget worked or how to operate it, she also expressed genuine concern for the guard's safety once he drifted away.
- She rescued Sonic, Tom, and Tails from G.U.N.'s detainment center, requiring her to get pass multiple guards. It's unclear how long G.U.N. were planning to keep them under containment, meaning it's very plausible the trio would have been trapped for the remainder of the film if it weren't for Maddie's intervention and wouldn't have been able to stop Robotnik.
- She saved Sonic's life by grabbing him from a speeding vehicle when he was about to be crushed to death by Dr. Robotnik while Tom was driving the car.
- When Sonic asked her and Tom to leave without him since Robotnik was only intended to get rid of him, she refused to abandon him, willingly staying by his side along with Tom and stating that they'll stick together as family no matter what. Even once Dr. Robotnik was eventually about to crush all three of them, she still never once left her spot and remained with Sonic and Tom the entire way through.
Knuckles[]
- She called out Knuckles for nearly having Ozzy fight against their Mailman and even rightfully grounded him for it as well.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3[]
- She, Team Sonic and Tom celebrate Sonic’s Earth Day anniversary in Green Hills.
- Before Team Sonic left with G.U.N. to help deal with Shadow in Tokyo, she and Tom advised them to make good choices.
- She and Tom agreed to help Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles infiltrate G.U.N. headquarters in London to retrieve the heavily guarded and isolated keycard before Shadow the Hedgehog, Dr. Robotnik, and his grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik could get to it first as they already had one keycard and only needed the second one to completely enact their evil plan.
- While impersonating Rachel, although she threatened a G.U.N employee by saying she would get "ultra nasty" on him if he didn't give her access, she only did it to get around the tight security and stop both Shadow and the Robotniks from completing their evil scheme, she additionally needed to be true to her sister's character as well.
- Plus, this specific moment was played for laughs and she had no malicious intent with her "threat" at all.
- As soon as she saw Tom unconscious and lying on the floor as a result of being dealt a heavy blow by Shadow and seriously injured, she immediately rushed to his aid and remained by his side for the remainder of the film in a London hospital until he recovered as she witnessed the Eclipse Cannon being moved by Sonic and Shadow.
What Prevents Her From Being Pure Good?[]
- She ultimately but slightly fails the Admirable Standards to her husband Tom Wachowski, who indirectly helped save the world with a single speech, although Tom has slightly more resources than her as a former cop and has a lot more screen time (in the first 2 films), so this isn't too mitigating.
- She has some jerkish moments that detract from her goodness such as when she attacks Tom after he shows physical attraction towards her while in someone else's appearance (though Tom might have risked alerting Director Rockwell and other G.U.N. Workers with that), or when she disguises herself as her sister Rachel, she actually even tries to rough up Tom a little to make her disguise more plausible (although it was likely a Heating-Up Period which makes it a very minor prevention.)
Trivia[]
- She and her adoptive son Sonic the Hedgehog are the only Sonic Cinematic Universe characters to be Near Pure Good so far.
- Wade Whipple used to be Near Pure Good, but once the Admirable Standards changed with the release of the Third Movie, and it was pointed out that he intentionally had zero care when his sister's life was threatened, being too much of a corrupting quality, so he was cut from NPG and moved to Heroic Benchmark.
