I know what I want. I know what kind of god I need to be. For you. For all of us.
~ Loki to Sylvie and Mobius before weaving together the Multiverse, saving it from collapsing.

Loki Laufeyson, categorized as Variant L1130 by the Time Variance Authority, is a minor antagonist in the 2019 Marvel Cinematic Universe film Avengers: Endgame and the titular main protagonist of its spin-off series of the same name. He is a multiversal variant of the original Loki Laufeyson, who was arrested by the TVA and later became their agent.

With the help of Agent Mobius and another variant of himself, Sylvie Laufeydottir, he helped free the Sacred Timeline from He Who Remains and sacrificed his own freedom to save the multiverse from total annihilation, holding the multiverse together as the God of Stories.

He is portrayed by Tom Hiddleston, who also played his original counterpart.

His Good Ranking[]

What Makes Him Close to Being Pure Good?[]

In General[]

  • Unlike his original counterpart, this variant of Loki largely shed almost all his corrupting qualities from the events of Thor and The Avengers.
  • Despite how high the admirable standards of the MCU are, Loki easily passes it for saving the entire multiverse from falling into decay by becoming its lynchpin while sacrificing his own freedom for all eternity. He also tried stopping General Dox from pruning timelines as well as stopping Sylvie from killing He Who Remains to prevent the Multiversal War.

Season 1[]

  • After being shown how the life of his original counterpart played out, he was heartbroken to see what his life was supposed to become, and he admitted to Mobius that he doesn't enjoy hurting others and regrets many of his past actions.
  • He was willing to help Mobius and his Minute Men in tracking down and apprehending another variant of himself who was responsible for the deaths of dozens of TVA agents.
  • Upon learning the identity of this variant, he pursued after her, potentially risking his life to stop her.
  • When the two of them were stranded on a planet that was about to be destroyed due to a Nexus Event, he was willing to put aside their differences and work together to find a way off.
  • He bonded with Sylvie and showed sympathy for her when she revealed her tragic backstory.
  • He protected Sylvie and helped her fight off guards when the two of them snuck onto a train together.
  • When all seemed hopeless and it appeared that the two were not going to make it off the planet in time, Loki embraced Sylvie, and it's their newfound love and appreciation for each other that ultimately saves them when a branch begins to form, alerting the TVA to their location.
  • With Sylvie's help, he exposed that the Time-Keepers were fake and that Renslayer had been behind it all.
  • When the two of them were trapped in The Void, Loki distracted Alioth long enough for Sylvie to enchant it, revealing the location of the Citadel at the End of Time.
  • Loki and Sylvie confronted He Who Remains, the true mastermind behind the TVA's operation.
  • When Sylvie attempted to kill He Who Remains, Loki stopped her, heeding his warnings about a potential Multiversal War breaking out if he dies.

Season 2[]

  • After being sent back to the TVA headquarters by Sylvie via a Temp Pad portal, Loki attempted to warn Mobius and the other TVA agents of the impending war and looming threat of He Who Remains. Although, he had been accidentally sent back in time and they didn't know who he was.
  • Upon time-slipping back into the Present Day TVA, he informed Mobius of Sylvie's actions and the two of them sought out the help of Ouroboros. With his help, they (temporarily) fixed Loki's time-slipping and deduced that the several branches caused by the Scared Timeline being freed will result in total destruction of existence if not stopped.
  • With the help of Mobius and Agent B-15, he captured Hunter X-5, a TVA agent who deserted his post and was living on the Sacred Timeline under the alias of actor Brad Wolfe. He did this because X-5 allegedly knew Sylvie's whereabouts.
  • When Ouroboros informs them that the only way to stop the destruction of the multiverse is to find a means to contain the growing new branches and timelines, they seek out Sylvie's help.
  • When Sylvie enchants X-5 and learns about TVA General Dox's plan to bomb the new branches, Loki, Mobius, and her quickly locate Dox's location and stop her before she can successfully destroy all of the times. Although, most of them were still destroyed.
  • Loki and Mobius travel to a branched timeline in 1893 at the Chicago World Fair to locate Renslayer, who has control of Miss Minutes, the only thing capable of securing the new branches, since she has complete control over the TVA.
  • Loki saves Victor Timely, a genius inventor and variant of He Who Remains, from being killed by Sylvie and recruits him to assist in saving the TVA.
  • Loki and his allies attempt to use Timely and Ouroboros's Throughput Multiplier to fix the Temporal Loom and contain the new branches.
  • When their plan didn't work and the Temporal Loom exploded, Loki was able to save himself by time-slipping. He then proceeds to go through various points in time to recruit the original Sacred Timeline counterparts of all of his allies (B-15, Mobius, and Ouroboros), and gathers them together with the hopes of finding a way to reverse the destruction of the TVA.
  • After recruiting Sylvie from her timeline, Loki learned that she retained her memory leading up to the explosion. He tries to enlist her help once more, but to no avail, and admits that he fears being alone and needs his friends to help him.
  • When the timeline begins to be destroyed, Loki finally learns how to fully control his time-slipping and declares that he plans to "rewrite the story".
  • He travels back to moments before the explosion of the Temporal Loom, when everyone was still alive, and spends centuries trapped in a time loop learning about the Temporal Loom, how time works, and to account for every possible variable to achieve the desire outcome.
  • When it still doesn't work, Loki travels back moments prior to He Who Remains' death and has a talk with him. He Who Remains informs Loki that the Temporal Loom is a failsafe and that there is no way to prevent utter destruction of the multiverse because it was only designed to maintain a certain number of branches, not an infinitely growing multiverse.
  • Loki travels back to before the Temporal Loom's destruction and replaces Timely as the one approaching the Loom. He then purposefully destroys the Loom and uses his magic to rejuvenate the dying branches and weave all of them together into a tree-like structure, committing himself to oversee the branches alone at the End of Time for all eternity.

What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]

  • Although he sheds most of his corrupting qualities his original counterpart had, he still has moments of mischief, like disguising himself as a woman's former husband in an attempt to deceive her.
  • He also made a few morally questionable decisions, such as torturing X-05 for information on Sylvie's whereabouts (although he was not seriously harmed), and considering the possibility of letting He Who Remains continue running the TVA (albeit as a last resort).

Trivia[]

  • He is the only version of Loki to be Near Pure Good, as all other versions are far too anti-heroic, jerkish, and mischievous and the ones that redeem don't reform from enough of their villainy.
