Loid Forger, also known by his spy moniker Twilight, is the main protagonist of the Spy × Family franchise. Being one of the top agents of WISE, Loid is assigned for Operation Strix to establish permanent peace between Westalis and Ostania, according to which, he adopted Anya and married Yor Briar to establish a family. His primary objective is to investigate Donovan Desmond, a high-ranking Ostanian politician who is suspected to be a warmonger.
He is voiced by Takuya Eguchi in Japanese who also voiced Hachiman Hikigaya from Oregairu, and Alex Organ in English.
Although he used to be xenophobic towards Ostania due to past trauma, he eventually abandoned his hatred after befriending Franky.
His main motivation to his job as a spy is to make a world where kids no longer need to cry, motivated by the loss of his parents during the war.
He became a spy so that he can know all necessary information about a possible conflict between Ostania and Westalis.
As an agent of WISE, Loid is instrumental in several missions to keep the peace between Westalis and Ostania, such as the ongoing Operation Strix.
Retrieved sensitive information about an Ostanian politician by tricking Edgar so that the latter can't use it to blackmail him.
Despite saying to himself that he all he does for his family is "for the mission", he's shown to actually deeply love and care about Yor and Anya and constantly goes out of his way to help them and ensure they're happy.
Saved Anya from Edgar and felt remorseful about endangering her.
Helped Anya study to pass the Entrance Exam.
Sympathized with Yor when Camilla attempted to sully her reputation out of jealousy.
Nearly punched Murdoch Swan after he insulted Anya and Yor, but held himself back as he didn't want to kill the man. He declared that if Eden Academy makes Anya cry, he will look for another school.
This led to Henry Henderson realizing he was being too strict on the children, leading to him punching Swan himself and finding renewed joy in teaching.
Despite Operation Strix being at risk due to Anya punching Damian, Loid still managed to get Anya to apologize to him because he didn't want Anya to become rude.
Helped Anya with her homework whenever possible.
Despite being stressed with Operation Strix and WISE handing him his assignments, Loid unhesitatingly fulfilled his missions, even tiring himself to do so.
Despite suspecting Yor to be an Ostanian secret agent, after Yor sincerely confessed to a disguised Loid and Franky about her love for Anya and Loid, he felt ashamed of himself and destroyed the bug.
While he does angrily scold Anya for trying to enter his room, causing her to cry, not only was his anger entirely justified as she could potentially blow his cover to Yor by showing incriminating evidence of his status as a spy, but he also immediately feels bad for doing this and tries to cheer up Anya by playing with her alongside Yor.
Disguised himself as Minister Brantz and fooled Keith Kepler into chasing him so that he couldn't kill the real one to start a war.
Helped Carrol Campbell realize his aptitude for tennis and convinced him to rely on his own power rather than on the gimmicks provided by his family.
Sympathized with Damian regarding his father's cold nature towards him.
When he thought Yor was in grumpy mood after shopping (but in reality, she got shot in the butt), he goes out on a date with her to try to make her feel better.
Stopped Snoops's backup plan to start a war between Westalis and Ostania by throwing the bomb to the sea, accidentally throwing it at Snoops himself and stopping his genocidal ambitions altogether.
Helps Bond save a puppy from a burning building and catch its arsonist. He later on calmly tells Bond to not be so reckless, saying that there are people who would miss him if he died.
While fighting Yuri, Loid held back because he knew Yor will be sad if Yuri died.
What Prevents Him From Being Pure Good?[]
He lies and deceives others for the sake of his missions, never letting his emotions getting in his way. Most notably, the series' first chapter showcases him getting into a relationship with the daughter of the crime lord, Edgar, strung her along and then broke up with her when he didn't need her anymore. Additionally, despite showing to genuinely care for Anya and Yor, he is not willing to admit that he considers them his family likely to not get attached and focus on the mission.
